Google Under Fire

Google is under intense scrutiny after releasing private information regarding Wiki-Leaks staff to the U.S. government. Wiki-Leaks Australian journalist Julian Assange is facing espionage charges in the U.S, after his private e-mail and meta data were being handed over to the feds. Warrants for his arrest include espionage, conspiracy, theft of government property, and computer fraud abuse. International Journalists are coming to Assange’s defense, saying the U.S. government was violating his privacy and journalistic rights. Wiki-Leak’s lawyer’s wrote to the U.S. District Court saying that the government violated the U.S. federal privacy legislation. Risking an extradition to the U.S, Assange has been living in Ecuador’s London Embassy in political asylum. British police stake out the building in the hopes to take him to Sweden, where he is wanted for unrelated sexual charges. If he is sent to Sweden, Assange could face an extradition to the U.S. Both the British and Sweden government have provided no assurances. http://bit.ly/15KAMw2 http://bit.ly/1tm1juM Support Indymedia!
