U.S. Insurer MetLife Says to Sue Regulators Over Tougher Rules

MetLife says it will file a lawsuit against regulators who are subjecting it to tougher oversight. Metlife says it will challenge regulators' verdict the firm harbors enough risk to endanger the financial system in a crisis. Metlife is the largest U.S. life insurer. It unsuccessfully contested the decision by the Financial Stability Oversight Council in a hearing last month, and a lawsuit is its last resort to escape being overseen by the U.S. Federal Reserve. Metlife says the designation as a so-called "systemically important" company would make insurance products more expensive without actually enhancing financial stability. http://yhoo.it/1DX1UUU http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ
