Dozens of Somali foreign nationals arrested for alleged fraud.

Federal lawmakers are digging into the massive fraud scandal unfolding in Minnesota, where dozens of Somali foreign nationals have been arrested and accused of diverting more than a billion dollars in taxpayer funds to terrorist organizations.

The investigation is widening, with more charges expected, and a new review by Open The Books identifying additional federal social-service grants flowing directly into Minnesota’s Somali community. Rachel O’Brien, the deputy public policy editor at Open The Books, says there are three main schemes: Feeding Our Future, which claimed to feed children from low-income families; an autism program where parents allegedly claimed their children were autistic to obtain federal kickbacks; and a housing scheme that purported to find homes for elderly residents.
