Due to the end of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Food and Nutrition Services benefits will decrease for all households effective November 1, 2013. This cut will affect all 47 million recipients across the nation.

Change is Coming to the Department of Social Services
North Carolina is implementing a "no wrong door" and one-stop Medicaid and Food & Nutrition Services application process. Customers will be able to apply for most income support programs (Food & Nutrition Services, Medicaid, & Work First) through a "1 stop" process at DSS or via electronic submission of their application. All 100 local NC Departments of Social Services are implementing like changes as a result of NCFAST and The Affordable Health Care Act.
