$10 Million Offered To Rid US Waterways Of Phosphate Pollution

A Florida environmental group is offering $10 million to anyone in the world who can figure out how to clean-up the Everglades and other waterways around the country of a fertilizer byproduct. That byproduct is Phosphorous and it's blamed for disastrous algae blooms in Florida and the Midwest. The Miami-based Everglades Foundation said it will disburse a total of $1 million for other advances over the next seven years leading up to the awarding of the $10 million prize in 2022. And in Chicago, Mayor Rahm Emanuel is hosting a water quality meeting this week with mayors from surrounding cities, seeking to combat future algae blooms in the Great Lakes. http://bit.ly/1ukAZjZ http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ
