A large earthquake at 9:51 a.m. rattled Southcentral Alaska, with early reports from the Alaska Earthquake Information Center placing the epicenter at 80 miles northwest of Anchorage. The center's preliminary estimates say the magnitude was 5.7. The USGS says the earthquake was magnitude 6.1.
