WATCH: Senator Dick Dubbin Cuts Off Interview over ISIS

Vince Talks ISIS with Durbin. (ABC20) Tonight we speak with powerful Illinois senator Dick dubbin. He offered a satellite interview with us from Washington D.C. where Durbin was wanting to talk about a bill he introduced that would give veteran owned small businesses access to surplus federal property. We've done many of these interviews with the senator and no topic is off limits. So given today's 9-11 anniversary and the president's national address last night on how he plans to handle the terror group ISIS I laid about asking the Senator some tough questions about the situation maybe too tough as my interview was abruptly cut short from Obama on ISIS. President Obama addressed the nation Wednesday night saying that "Our objective is clear we will degrade and ultimately destroy ISIL." The president's forceful stance to the American people on the Islamic terror group known as ISIS. Here's senator Durbin's reaction. "I thought the president made a very clear statement of strategies. Isis is a miserable, awful, extremist group. To think that they murdered, beheaded two innocent American journalists is just disgusting." ISIS seemingly came to be front page news, quickly, suddenly. Most of us only learning about the terror organization through media reports some 5-months ago. By then ISIS was marauding and killing it's way all across Iraq. Securing large chunks of the country. So I asked Durbin when he first heard of the group. "I am not sure they were under the radar, but they were on the radar screen with as I said with maybe 20 other groups that were emerging in Syria. It wasn't clear which one would be viable and grow and whether they would be friendly to the United States. So we've been monitoring them, but what happened over the last 6 or 8 months is they visited getting massive investments in money and they came up with a tactic in a country that was very vulnerable. Iraq was falling apart. Poilitically it was a mess," Senator Durbin responded. But isn't the mission of our intelligence agencies to be able to sort out friend from foe- non-threat versus threat -so we can intercept groups like ISIS before they morph into a danger as ISIS has? By now we've learned the group is well funded and well organized. Just like another group that 13-years-ago today carried out the worst terror attack on U.S. soil. Al-Queida, responsible for 9/11, exposing a gaping hole in America's intelligence community. In the years since, billions have been spent to beef-up our intel. In fact, according to a published report, collectively our intelligence agencies asked for more than 52-billion dollars of funding for this year.
