Canadian Parliament votes to authorize airstrikes in Iraq

Canadian MPs have voted to authorize airstrikes against the ISIL terrorists operating in Iraq following a U-S request. Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper's Conservative Party introduced the motion last week. The party has a majority of seats in Parliament. The motion passed 157-134 on Tuesday. The motion authorizes airstrikes in Iraq for up to six months and explicitly states that no ground troops be used in combat operations. About 600 airmen and airwomen will be involved in the action. Canada is one of the countries that have joined the U-S-led coalition against the ISIL Takfiris. Earlier, we were joined by Press TV's Borna Arabi, who elaborated on why Canada should not launch an airstrike against the ISIL Takfiri militants operating in Iraq.
