Wynne High School Massive Brawl Caught on Tape, 12 Students Arrested, 17 Suspended

17 students suspended, 12 arrested after fight at Ark. high school WYNNE, AR - (WMC) - A fight that led to several student suspensions is going viral and some parents are blaming Memphis for the violence in Arkansas. It is the first time a big brawl like this has happened in a school in Wynne, and nobody seems to know what started it. "It really scared me. I thought a gun was going to come out or something," said Emmy Futrell. In the video students are seen pummeling each other. At one point, more students joined in the fight. Some students say the violence pushed students not involved in the fight against a wall. The fight was so out of control the school resource officer called police for help. Twelve students were arrested on Friday. School administrators looked at the video Monday and suspended 17 students for six to 10 days. It's not clear what the fight was about. "We don't think it was anything organized or preplanned, just something that happened," said Detective Mike Smith, Wynne Police Department. Some parents wonder if the fight at Kroger where a mob of teens attacked employees and customers has spilled over into Wynne. "It worries me. I don't know what's wrong with kids today, because if they can just go to school and start fights it's scary," said Kathy Steward. Wynne Public Schools' Superintendent Carl Easley issued the following statement: "On Friday, September 27, 2014, a fight took place on the campus of Wynne High School. Due to the number of students involved, the school resource officer called for assistance from the Wynne Police Department and the Cross County Sheriff's Department. As a result of the fighting, 12 students were arrested on Friday. On Monday, the high school administration reviewed video evidence and interviewed students involved. As a result of their investigation, 17 students have been suspended from school for a period of not less than 6 days and not more than 10 days. The majority of parents of the students involved have been very supportive of the High School administration, as well as disappointed in their children's behavior. The Wynne School District will continue to love, teach, and discipline our students as well as look for ways to increase school safety and resolve conflicts before they result in incidents like Friday." Students involved in the fight did not want to talk about it or say why it happened. Officials say security will be tight during the upcoming homecoming weekend. Wynne Superintendent will be making statement tomorrow. caught on cellphone video footage brawl big fight caught on cellphone video footage brawl big fight caught on cellphone video footage brawl big fight
