It's Getting a Lot Harder to Run a Political Campaign on Facebook

Political campaigns will have to rethink their online outreach tactics to potential voters ahead of the 2016 election, because Facebook is limiting the amount of user information available to third-party apps. In a way, the change will disrupt the disruptors. Campaigns will no longer have access to endless friend lists, making it more difficult for the groups to build a network of potential trusted voters. President Barack Obama's digital team for the 2012 reelection campaign was hailed as the most innovative of its time for its social media acumen, Twitter strategy and its app that collected voter data from Facebook. The digital campaign raised $690 million and registered 1.1 million people to vote. http://on.mash.to/1AeeTSV http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ
