The FCC May Drop the Hammer on Net Neutrality in February Vote

Cautious optimism is growing that the federal government's top communications regulator will adopt rules that would cheer net neutrality advocates. Federal Communications Commission Chairman Tom Wheeler spoke at CES in Las Vegas on Wednesday, where he hinted that the regulator's upcoming vote — set to take place on Feb. 26 — would include a shift to Title II, a move that has been championed by activists seeking to ensure strict net neutrality as well as President Barack Obama. While Wheeler did not come out and explicitly endorse Title II — shorthand for a major change in how the FCC regulates broadband companies that would extend the regulator's power — he did indicate that his goals fall in line with what that plan promises. http://on.mash.to/1AMgejc http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ
