After a relative week of "silence", including just one 6.2 magnitude event occurring in Colombia South America, 7 days of earthquakes less than 6.0M. Normally there are (on average) supposed to be 2-3 magnitude 6.0 or greater per week -- based upon the past frequency of events. Just when things were finally starting to cool off (earthquake activity wise), a new X-class solar flare occurred yesterday (march 11 2015). This new solar blast occurred on the Earth facing side of the Sun, and within just a few hours of the X2.2 flare, we began to see an increase in seismic activity. In the past - when we see Earth facing solar flares (M + X class) - when we see CME's (coronal mass ejections) directed towards earth, or when we see coronal holes in magnetic conjunction with Earth -- there is a noticeable increase in seismic activity. The first wave of seismic unrest from FLARES , and coronal holes is almost instantaneous (happening in the first few hours after the solar event). The 2nd (larger) wave of actual particles ejected from large solar flares or CME's usually takes 2-3 days to reach Earth. When the particle blast arrives, we normally see a flurry of several moderate to large earthquakes. Coronal holes also cause earthquake activity when an "open" hole faces towards Earth. These "open" or better put "partially exposed" magnetic points on the sun allow for a strong solar wind to be sent in the direction of Earths magnetic fields. The strong solar wind partially acting like an incoming blast of particles from a flare, but without the ejected material. Thus the radio blackouts can be heavy with a strong solar wind, but the Aurora will be lacking (due to lack of charged particle interaction). In the case of the coronal holes, the Earthquakes seem to be caused by a DIRECT magnetic connection which temporarily happens when the exposed coronal hole connects to Earth. The earthquakes may be caused when the connection first happens, or when it releases. Like two magnets being attracted to one another, then being drawn apart. _____ Forecast watch zones: Keep watch in the prone areas named in the video. Next 5-7 days from 10pm CDT March 12 2015) be on watch off the coast of Oregon, as well as from Mono Lake South to Los Angeles. Another area further South may also have movement in the 4.0 - 5.0M range -- Salton Sea in particular is the place to watch. Mexico City south to Guatemala.. be on watch for a greater than 6.0 magnitude event. North Chile to South Peru, along the coast, keep watch for a possible 6.0 - 7.0M over the next 7 days or less. Out of the entire West Pacific.. just 3 areas to watch. Eastern Papua New Guinea to Fiji, possibility of a large event is brewing over the next 7 days. Taiwan to South Japan is due for at least a 6.0M. Also, keep watch for a 5.0-6.0M event near Southern New Zealand. Europe, now watching at North Italy again (going into switzerland), as well as central Poland, and South UK to the English Channel. All should show at least 3.0M activity over the next week. Possibly 4.0M on mainland EU.
