Obama can take legal action against senators under a law known as 'Logan Act'
A group of Republican senators may find themselves facing treason charges over the controversial letter they have addressed to Iran. A petition against the senators on the White House website has reportedly received over one hundred-fifty thousand signatures in a single day. The US media says this is enough to mandate an official response from President Barack Obama. The petition calls for criminal charges against 47 senators who warned that any nuclear deal between Tehran and Washington would be short-lived. Reports say the government can take legal action against the senators under a law known as the Logan Act that was passed in 17-99 and revised in 1994.
