Optometrists are warning about the risks of selfies ahead of Friday morning's solar eclipse, which will be viewable in much of the northern hemisphere. The UK-based College of Optometrists issued a warning about the event, saying that the act of taking an eclipse selfie (or "eclipsie") could put people's eyes in harm's way. Eye damage can occur from staring at the sun on non-eclipse days, but the risks rise during eclipses because they make it more comfortable for people to stare at the sun for longer periods of time; this means damage to the retina is more likely to occur http://on.mash.to/1FG5XYg http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ
