Homeless Utility Vehicle Project Part II

The Homeless Utility Vehicle (HUV) emerged as the product of an inspiration to address the complex issue of homelessness in America. Efforts to transform the HUV into a reality began with a preliminary phase of research and development, which consisted of innovating and refining the overall design. With a clear vision of the HUV design, the implementation phase of the project was launched. The next several months consisted of the physical construction process; which not only challenged the theory of my final design, but also my abilities as a designer and craftsman. The HUV is both a functional design concept and a provocative display of activism. The result of this inspiration calls into question society's concept of shelter; thereby initiating a conversation about one of the most pervasive social issues faced in modern history.
