Missouri May Mandate Parents to Report Their Guns to Schools





JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.—A recently-introduced bill, S.B. 549, is making the rounds in the Missouri state Legislature and would require all parents to report any firearms they own to administrators at their children's schools. State Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal filed the bill, which reads, part: "This act requires a parent or guardian to notify a school district, or the governing body of a private or charter school, that he or she owns a weapon." The notification is required within 30 days of enrolling the child in school or becoming the owner of a weapon.
