FOX31 Denver’s Deborah Takahara was able to confirm through a source that it was an FBI agent who was shot at the Essex House Motel while executive a fugitive warrant. As of 5:15 p.m., there was a multiple-agency police presence surrounding the Essex House Motel at 5390 S Santa Fe Dr., which is just off South Santa Fe Drive between West Bowles and West Belleview avenues. An eyewitness, who identified himself as Craig, called into FOX31 Denver’s ongoing 5 PM broadcast with a report. “I noticed there was a SWAT team at the Essex House screaming at a shut door,” Craig said. “After a time, I heard them yell, ‘Shots fired!’ And I looked over to see one individual in plain clothes limping away from the door.
