Russia bans import of Western foods in retaliation for sanctions
Responding to the numerous rounds of sanctions imposed by the US and Europe over the crisis in Ukraine, Russia announced plans Thursday to ban imports of a variety of Western produced foods. Meats, fruits, vegetables, dairy products and fish will have restrictions placed on them for one year unless the countries imposing sanctions begin “acting reasonably towards Russia,” according to Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
