Civil Liberty Groups Challenge NSA, Obama

If this story sounds similar, it’s because it IS. Just last month, President Obama set a record low for approval ratings here in the US. Now, one month later he’s breaking his own records. And this time, a lot of the dissenting voice is coming from within his own party, some of his own biggest supporters. The NSA spy scandal is one of many items on a long list of Obama’s shortcomings, but NOW, it’s coming back to haunt him. Several civil liberties groups like the ACLU and Human Rights Watch are turning on Obama, challenging his administration on another NSA database. This one is called IC REACH, focusing on internet communications, both foreign and domestic. Over 40 civil liberty groups say it’s a clear infringement of American freedom. Their letter to the president accuses him of “undermining the fundamental rights of internet users everywhere.” The internet spy program, approved by Executive Order, allows the NSA to review loads of information from all over the web and compare notes...

Obamacare Could Face Major Setback

A U.S. appeals court on Thursday agreed to reconsider a July 22 ruling that posed a major setback to the Obamacare health insurance overhaul because it could limit the availability of federal health insurance subsidies for millions of people. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit said it would hear new oral arguments in the case on Dec. 17, which could delay possible U.S. This time, a panel of 13 judges will consider the case, instead of the usual three-judge panel. In the July ruling, the appeals court said the subsidies, which help people afford health insurance, may only be paid in states that have their own online health insurance exchanges. http://yhoo.it/1lD5YVw http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ #News

Russia, China Aim To Close Military Technology Gap With U.S.

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said on Wednesday, Russia and China are trying to close the technology gap with the U.S. military and developing weapons systems. Hagel was speaking before a NATO summit expected to bring Russia's souring relations with the West into sharp focus and the goals of NATO allies to strengthen defense spending. U.S. defense officials have watched as Moscow and Beijing have tested a string of sophisticated weapons, from radar-evading aircraft and anti-ship missiles that fly many times the speed of sound, to integrated air defenses. Hagel said the goal was to promote greater innovation needed to preserve America's technological edge, even at a time of tighter budgets. http://bit.ly/1lD5Vcd http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ #News

Yep. Ebola is an STD.

According to a new report from the CDC, the current Ebola epidemic could climb to as high as 20,000 cases before abating. There are many reasons why the world should be concerned about the outbreak, not the least of which is that the virus can live in a body for weeks, before or after any symptoms are present. And one of the places it can live is in semen. The Resident discusses. The protests, which are planned for about 150 cities nationwide throughout Thursday, are part of the "Fight for $15" campaign. U.S. Tax Revenue To Rise If Obama Legalizes Some Immigrants

The liberal-leaning Center for American Progress said in a report on Thursday that U.S. government tax collections would get a multi-billion-dollar boost if President Barack Obama issued an executive order giving temporary legal status to millions of undocumented residents. The group estimated $21.2 billion in additional payroll taxes would be collected over five years under one scenario available to Obama, who has made immigration reform a priority of his second term. The report said, "Many workers and employers will be able to emerge from the underground economy and pay payroll taxes for the first time." Obama, who had strong support from the Latino community in his 2012 re-election, had pushed Congress to pass a bill that would provide a pathway to citizenship for some of the 11.7 million undocumented people in the United States. http://yhoo.it/Whvkws http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ #News
