US still considering military option against Russia

The United States is still considering the military option against Russia over Ukraine, according to an analyst in Belgrade, Serbia. Joaquin Flores, geostrategist and director at Center for Syncretic Studies, made the remarks in a phone interview with Press TV on Sunday while commenting on US President Barack Obama’s claim that Washington is not seeking a military confrontation with Russia over the Ukraine crisis. “I’ve been very clear that it would not be effective to engage in a military conflict with Russia on this issue,” Obama said during his visit to India on Sunday. Flores said, “At first this might sound like a positive development.” But “it must be understood in context,” he added. “Peeling back the layers of doublespeak and hypocrisy, we find that since the coup that the US launched in Ukraine about a year ago, it has been the US that has spearheaded the present military conflict there today.” “It has been the US that has been funding and supporting the various extremist ele...

Russia Warns West not to Blackmail it Over Ukraine

Russia blamed Kiev on Monday for a surge in fighting in Ukraine and warned the West that any attempt to increase economic pressure on Moscow would be "absolutely destructive" blackmail. Pro-Moscow separatists, backed by what NATO says are Russian troops, have launched an offensive in southeastern Ukraine and President Barack Obama said Washington was considering all options short of military action to isolate Russia. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied any Russian involvement in the fighting and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov accused the West of whipping up anti-Russian hysteria to justify extending economic sanctions against Moscow. http://bit.ly/1BrwlSj http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ

HEATED Fox Focus Group over 'radical Islam': ‘Look at What’s in the Koran!’

‘Look at What’s in the Koran!’ Fox Focus Group Comes to Blows over Radical Islam (Mediaite) Tonight Fox News aired one of Frank Luntz‘s signature focus groups in reaction to the State of the Union and things devolved into a loud, heated mess over President Obama‘s unwillingness to say “radical Islam.” Plenty of people in the focus group reiterated arguments they, most likely, heard on Fox News. But there were a few individuals in the focus group who ended up clashing with the others. One woman argued it’s unfair to blame Islam in particular because people justify acts of terror with various different religions. That set off a lot of blowback from other panelists, who invoked Fort Hood, Bowe Bergdahl, and Obama’s cowardice in response. One woman argued, “Blame America does not work. Look what’s in the Koran. Look what they’re teaching in their mosques!” When another woman tried to argue the issue about overall religious extremism, the first woman shot back, “You’re not being honest. Th...

Elon Musk on 'Simpsons' Jab: Electric Space Rockets are no Good

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk was a guest in Sunday's episode of The Simpsons , and a jab from Lisa, who says that for a man who likes electric cars he sure burns a lot of rocket fuel, seems to have hit the right note, compelling real-life Musk to give the world a quick rocketry lesson on Twitter. Yes, it's coming from a cartoon character, but it's an interesting remark — Elon Musk is also CEO of electric car company Tesla, trying his hardest to prove that gas-guzzling cars are the stuff of the past. Yet, SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket's nine engines burn tens of thousands of gallons of kerosene per launch. There's a good reason why SpaceX is not trying to build an electric rocket, however — according to Musk, it simply cannot be used to reach Earth's orbit. Musk twitted: "Follow Reason is Newton's Third Law. In vacuum, there is nothing to "push" against. You must react against ejected mass." http://on.mash.to/1zh4PcF http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ

Israel's President Refuses to Meet Obama, White House Says Netanyahu 'Spat In Our Face'

http://bit.ly/1zfNXza Dahboo7 On Zeekly: http://bit.ly/1AVK44S While Obama is doing everything in his power to show that when it comes to commiserating with the Saudis, he is first in line, the US relationship with that "other" US ally in the region, Israel, is in a fast and furious state of "crash and burn." Recall, that it was yesterday when it was revealed that President Obama will forgo a visit to the Taj Mahal during his visit to India in order to pay respects in Saudi Arabia after the death of King Abdullah, the White House announced early Saturday morning. Vice President Biden was initially scheduled to lead the U.S. delegation, but he will instead now remain in Washington and Obama will add the stop onto his return from India, where Obama is concluding his trip to "foster economic ties with the nation." This, in turn, takes place a day after Obama announced he would not meet Israel's prime minister when he visits Washington in March, the White...

Blizzard of 2015: Hundreds of Flights Canceled, 20 to 30 Inches Expected

http://bit.ly/1zfNXza A potentially historic blizzard that could bring three feet of snow is barreling toward the city and has officials already warning that streets and subways could be shut down before the Monday evening rush. The National Weather Service predicts blizzard-like conditions to whip up winds as high as 65 mph and drop as much as 20 to 30 inches of snow. "We are facing, most likely, one of the largest snowstorms in the history of this city," Mayor de Blasio told reporters Sunday. Gov. Cuomo echoed those concerns in a statement Sunday that warned commuters they should consider staying home in advance of the Nor’Easter. “As a result, roads including the Thruway, I-84 and the Long Island Expressway, and public transit networks including the LIRR, PATH, Metro North Railroad, and MTA subways and buses may be closed ahead of the evening commute,” Cuomo announced Sunday night. http://nydn.us/1ykOFYC
