Jacob Mugambi Muriithi, 30, is being held in the Oklahoma County jail on a terrorism complaint. His bail is set at $1 million. “We take these threats very seriously,” Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater said. The arrest came on the same day police in Moore revealed fired Vaughan Foods worker Alton Alexander Nolen beheaded a co-worker after he was fired Thursday. Nolen is a Muslim convert. Muriithi was identified as a native of Kenya who is living in Oklahoma City. He worked at Bellevue Nursing Home in northwest Oklahoma City, police reported. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the driver of a semi-truck that hit a female college softball team's bus Saturday, leaving four students dead, told investigators that a distraction caused him to swerve. Russell Staley was driving the 18-wheeler that jumped a wide median on an Oklahoma highway before it collided with a bus transporting North Central Texas College's softball team. Ronnie Hampton said that they had not yet independently confirmed Staley was distracted by anything inside the truck's cabin. An American doctor who was exposed to the Ebola virus while volunteering in Sierra Leone has been admitted for observation at The National Institutes of Health near the nation's capital. NIH confirmed in a news release on its website that the physician arrived Sunday. NIH had said previously that out of "an abundance of caution," the physician is being admitted to a special isolation unit. At least 30 people are presumed dead after rescuers found them showing no signs of life Sunday near the summit of a Japanese volcano that started erupting a day earlier. Police said the people were in a state of "cardiac arrest," meaning that they were discovered without a pulse and weren't breathing but hadn't been declared dead by a doctor. Authorities said on Saturday that the Oklahoma man suspected of beheading a former co-worker at a food distribution warehouse last week, who was shot by another employee trying to thwart the attack, was placed under arrest in a hospital where he underwent surgery. Police sergeant Jeremy Lewis, of Moore, Oklahoma, said Alton Nolen was charged with first degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon when he emerged from sedation. Lewis said Nolen is suspected of killing Colleen Hufford, 54, and stabbing Traci Johnson, 43, who apparently were attacked randomly at the Vaughan Foods facility in Moore on Thursday. Police said on Friday Nolen had reportedly tried to convert his colleagues to Islam, and the FBI was looking into his background. Nolen, 30, had been fired from the plant moments earlier. Liberia's chief medical officer is placing herself under quarantine for 21 days after her office assistant died of Ebola. Bernice Dahn, a deputy health minister who has represented Liberia at regional conferences intended to combat the ongoing epidemic, told The Associated Press on Saturday that she did not have any Ebola symptoms--but wanted to ensure she was not infected. The World Health Organization says 21 days is the maximum incubation period for Ebola, which has killed more than 3,000 people across West Africa and is hitting Liberia especially hard.
