Iraqi Army, backed by Shia popular forces, retakes villages near Muqdadiyah

The Iraqi army backed by Shia volunteer forces continues its mop-up operations to purge the Diyala province of the ISIL terrorists. Fighting between the two sides has been largely centered in villages near Muqdadiyah, about 80 kilometers northeast of Baghdad. The area had been under the control of the Takfiri terrorists for months. Further south, Iraqi forces and Sunni tribes have managed to liberate 12 villages and towns in Mansouriya district, north of Baqubah. According to Iraqi officials, at least 30 Takfiris were killed there, and their vehicles and equipment confiscated. Right now a clean-up operation is underway to ensure a safe return for the displaced people. Eyes on Fed After ECB, Other Bank Stimulus Moves

The Federal Reserve could be key for Wall Street next week as investors get to hear from the U.S. central bank for the first time since a series of moves by its global peers, including the European Central Bank's massive stimulus plan. Thursday's larger-than-expected stimulus package from the ECB lifted U.S. stocks, helping indexes post gains for the week after three straight weeks of losses. http://yhoo.it/1yiZDhq http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ

Iranian MPs drafting law in response to US Congress rhetoric

Iran's parliament is working on a draft legislation that will oblige the government to enrich uranium with new-generation centrifuges. A spokesman for the parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee has said the move is in response to rising rhetoric by the US Congress. According to Hossein Naghavi Hosseini, the parliament’s nuclear committee is working on the technical and operational aspects of the draft law. He warned that any additional anti-Iran sanctions run counter to the Geneva interim deal and would be detrimental to the ongoing nuclear talks between Iran and the P-five-plus-one group of nations. According to the Iranian lawmaker, the parliament also has a second bill on the table, which will require the government to enrich uranium at the 60-percent level in case the US Congress goes ahead with plans to impede the ongoing negotiations. Japan will not give up on hostage deputy foreign minister

Japan will continue to "coordinate with every side" to resolve a hostage crisis, the country's deputy foreign minister said on Sunday (January 25) in Jordan. Yasuhide Nakayama is in the Jordanian capital Amman to resolve the situation after two Japanese citizens were held hostages by Islamic State militants, one of whom was later said to be killed. On Tuesday (January 20), Islamic State militants released a video showing Haruna Yukawa and veteran war correspondent Kenji Goto with a knife-wielding, masked man demanding a $200 million ransom for their release. A 72-hour deadline for that payment expired on Friday (January 23). In a later recording , Goto says Yukawa was "slaughtered in the land of the Islamic Caliphate." But the journalist said the Japanese government could save him by working through Jordan, where Prime Minister Shinzo Abe earlier this week set up an office to coordinate the government's response to the hostage situation. Goto said the milit...

Governments Lie: Howard Zinn on Class Warfare, Immigration, Justice, Film and History (2007)

From 1956 through 1963, Zinn chaired the Department of History and social sciences at Spelman College. He participated in the Civil Rights Movement and lobbied with historian August Meier "to end the practice of the Southern Historical Association of holding meetings at segregated hotels". While at Spelman, Zinn served as an adviser to the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and wrote about sit-ins and other actions by SNCC for The Nation and Harper's. In 1964, Beacon Press published his book SNCC: The New Abolitionists. Zinn collaborated with historian Staughton Lynd mentoring student activists, among them Alice Walker, who would later write The Color Purple; and Marian Wright Edelman, founder and president of the Children's Defense Fund. Edelman identified Zinn as a major influence in her life and, in that same journal article, tells of his accompanying students to a sit-in at the segregated white section of the Georgia state legislature. Although Zinn...

"DESPERATE CENTRAL BANKSTERS" TRYING "ANOTHER DESPERATE MOVE"!

The ECB has decided to leak its deliberations not only to Merkel and Hollande, but Dow Jones.. To wit: - DJ: ECB EXEC BOARD'S QE PROPOSAL CALLS FOR ROUGHLY EUR50B IN BOND BUYS A MONTH - SOURCES.. - ECB SAID TO PROPOSE QE OF 50 BILLION EUROS A MONTH THROUGH 2016.. More as we see it, but if indeed this will be a program without risk-mutualization and conditional and limited burden-sharing, where the hope was that Draghi would "shock and awe" the world with the size of the bond purchasing program instead, €600 billion per year looks decidedly on the low side of any "surprise" announcement where the whisper number was for €1 trillion per year, and if indeed this is the final formulation may result in a substantial disappointment for stocks after the initial kneejerk reaction.. More from the WSJ which broke the news first, and was followed by Bloomberg and Reuters: A proposal from the European Central Bank’s Frankfurt-based executive board calls for bond purchases o...

Power Grid Breakdown Plunges Pakistan Into Darkness

http://bit.ly/1zfNXza This was the fourth major breakdown of the system within the past one month plunging countless cities, towns and villages in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan into darkness. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif took notice of the worst-ever power breakdown to have hit the country and issued instructions for the immediate resumption of power supply on an emergency basis. Power supply in many areas was restored after the instructions were issued by the prime minister. WTF! Oregon Man Serving Prison Sentence for Collecting Rainwater On His Own Property

http://bit.ly/1zfNXza Dahboo7 On Zeekly: http://bit.ly/1AVK44S An Oregon landowner has been subjected to a 30-day prison sentence for what he says was a simple act of collecting rainwater on his own property. CNS News reports that Gary Harrington was convicted of nine misdemeanors and sentenced to 30 days in prison, as well as slapped with a $1,500 fine, for diverting snow runoff and rainwater into three reservoirs on his property, a move that local officials say violates an antiquated law governing personal water use.Known as the “Rain Main,” Harrington reportedly built the reservoirs, which hold some 13 million gallons of water, for his own personal use. One of the reservoirs he stocked with largemouth bass for leisure purposes, and when wildfires emerge in the area, he says the water from this and the other two reservoirs can be used for mitigatory purposes. In Harrington’s mind, the operation is perfectly legal and a legitimate use of his own property. http://bit.ly/1EHpy83
