Amid Severe Drought, Quakes May Have Caused LA Waterworks to lose 82,000 Gallons

A series of earthquakes in Santa Clarita may have played a role in the loss of thousands of gallons of water at two Los Angeles County Waterworks facilities, officials say. Just days after Governor Jerry Brown ordered state-wide reductions during one of the worst droughts in the state’s history, the Val Verde facilities lost a total of 82,000 gallons following a water pump malfunction. An agency spokesperson told CBS2/KCAL9 the problem started Friday night, when the malfunction caused tens of thousands of gallons to spew from the pump, shorting out the communications system on a nearby wall. http://cbsloc.al/1GFTDaK

CRAZY! DARPA Made a Device That Turns Insects Into Remote Controlled Cyborgs

Through a DARPA-funded program, scientists at the University of California invented a tiny rig that connects to an insect’s brain and flight muscles. Once implanted, the device takes over the insect’s body, turning it into a remote control cyborg capable of receiving flight commands wirelessly from a nearby laptop. Engineers at CRASAR are developing small robots to aid in search-and-rescue missions and disaster relief, but nothing they’ve made has come close to the size and capabilities of an insect. Rather than creating such a robot, the University of California scientists decided to take a shortcut. “Insects are just amazing fliers compared to anything we can build at that scale,” said lead engineer Michel Maharbiz in and interview with WIRED. Dreamer by Roger Hodgson - Voice of Supertramp - singer-songwriter and composer

Roger Hodgson formerly of Supertramp and his first hit song Dreamer was written and composed by Roger shortly after he graduated from school. Roger Hodgson has been recognized as one of the most gifted composers, songwriters and lyricists of our time. As the legendary voice of Supertramp and composer of many of the band's greatest hits, he gave us "Give a Little Bit", "The Logical Song", "Dreamer", "Take the Long Way Home", "Breakfast In America", "It's Raining Again", "School", "Fools Overture" and so many others that have become the soundtrack of our lives. Roger's World Tour is getting rave reviews and there are many shows this year to catch. Roger performs his songs in a variety of formats so you can see him at a band show, orchestra show or acoustic show. I love them all. Along with many of his Supertramp hits he also performs many fan favorites from his Open the Door and In the Eye of the...
