Explosion, Fire at N.Y. Nuke Plant
A transformer failure at the Indian Point nuclear power plant caused an explosion and fire at the facility Saturday evening, sending billows of black smoke into the air near Buchanan, New York. According to Entergy spokesman Jerry Nappi, The fire broke out on the non-nuclear side of the plant, about 200 yards away from the reactor building. Nappi said, "The fire is out and the plant is safe and stable." Federal officials said one reactor unit automatically shut down. And this is the first time that domestic commercial vehicle trailers have been seen on US military trains - at least this is what they are claiming. At 2:17 a.m. a 3.1 magnitude quake struck the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park area while a second quake of 4.5 magnitude shook a minute later at 2:18 a.m. west of Pahala. The quakes were felt across the island. Mt. Fuji is located only about 25 kilometers from Mt. Hakone. While Mt. Fuji is also an active volcano, will the increased volcanic activity of Mt. Hakone have any effects on Mt. Fuji? “The magma chambers located beneath Mt. Hakone and Mt. Fuji are not connected, so there is no effect on Mt. Fuji,” said Toshitsugu Fujii, who chairs the Japan Meteorological Agency’s Coordinating Committee for Prediction of Volcanic Eruptions. The agency has not observed any signs of impending eruption in Mt. Fuji and therefore has not raised the eruption alert level for the mountain. The agreement allows SOCOM to conduct ground, air, and maritime maneuvers in the city from August 1 to August 8, 2015. US military personnel will conduct “full mission profile training” at three locations: 160 E 5th Street, Biloxi, MS-- Jimmy Buffett’s Magaritaville Casino, a 68,000 sq ft waterfront property on Back Bay that closed in September 2014.
