Doctors Without Borders says the French nurse who became infected with Ebola while working in Liberia has recovered from the disease. The medical charity, which has shouldered a large part of the response to the West African outbreak, said Saturday that it received confirmation from the French Health Ministry that the woman had survived the disease. The University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf in Germany also said Saturday that a Senegalese scientist who was infected with Ebola in Sierra Leone has recovered and been discharged. A third U.S. doctor working for a charity organization in Liberia has contracted Ebola and should arrive at a Nebraska hospital for treatment sometime on September 5th. Since the deadly virus migrated from Guinea to Liberia and Sierra Leone earlier this year, West Africa has seen thousands of infections and almost 2000 deaths. The virus is likely a hybrid of viruses found in bats and apes that, after jumping the species barrier into humans, causes severe intestinal infection, hemorrhagic fever and in a large number of cases, eventual death. In August, two U.S. missionary doctors who became infected in Liberia were flown to a hospital in Atlanta for treatment with an experimental drug called Zmapp. The drug was created by infecting three mice with three separate strains of Ebola and then harvesting and combining the antibodies produced by the mice. At the very least, they said, travelers arriving from Ebola-stricken countries should be screened for fever, which is currently done on departure from Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone. But such safeguards are not foolproof. "The fever-screening instruments run low and aren't that accurate," said infection control specialist Sean Kaufman, president of Behavioral-Based Improvement Solutions, a biosafety company based in Atlanta. "And people can take ibuprofen to reduce their fever enough to pass screening, and why wouldn't they? The Dallas hospital treating the lone U.S. Ebola patient says an emergency room doctor who initially treated and released him did have access to the man's travel history, after all. Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas issued a news release late Friday saying Thomas Duncan's travel history was available to all of the hospital workers who treated him during his initial visit, including the doctor. It said Thursday that a flaw in the electronic health records systems led to separate physician and nursing workflows, meaning Duncan's travel history didn't appear in the doctor's. Duncan fell ill after traveling from Liberia to Dallas and was sent home after that initial emergency room visit. Two passengers on a United Airlines flight that landed at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey on Saturday were removed by federal health officials after exhibiting possible signs of Ebola, according to a local media report. Officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, dressed in full HAZMAT gear, escorted a man and his daughter off the flight, WABC-TV reported. A plane at Newark Liberty International Airport, just 30 minutes outside of New York City, has been sealed over fears that a passenger on board is carrying the Ebola virus, according to a report. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is investigating United Airlines Flight 998 from Brussels, after reports that a passenger had begun vomiting on the plane, CBS reported. "Upon arrival at Newark Airport from Brussels, medical professionals instructed that customers and crew of United flight 998 remain on board until they could assist an ill customer," United Airlines said in a statement, according to the report. An unidentified doctor is believed to have donated the property where they have been relocated to. A woman, a man and a boy were seen being led away officials behind black sheets set up by hazmat teams to seal the house earlier today.
