The St. Louis County grand jury has found that there isn't sufficient evidence to indict Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson. The job of this grand jury was to help prosecuting attorney Robert McCulloch to determine whether or not there was sufficient cause to seek formal criminal charges against Wilson (and to help provide a scapegoat for McCulloch who naturally fears for his life due to the violence of an angry mob bent on revenge). As this was not an actual criminal trial, there was no "NOT GUILTY" verdict - although that is essentially what the decision of the grand jury means. They weighed a variety of potential charges - from first degree murder to unlawful discharge of a firearm. Had the grand jury indicted Wilson, he would have been immediately arrested pending a trial based on the charges determined by the jurors. President Barack Obama, at a news conference Monday night, addressed the Ferguson grand jury's decision not to indict police officer Darren Wilson for the shooting of Michael Brown. The president reiterated Brown's parents' call for peaceful protests. "We need to accept that this decision was the grand jury's to make," the president said. "There are Americans who agree with it, and there are Americans who are deeply upset, even angry. It's an understandable reaction. But I join Michael's parents in asking anyone who protests this decision to do so peacefully."

The police officer who fatally shot an unarmed 18-year-old in Ferguson, Missouri, setting off weeks of ongoing protests, has gotten married. Louis County Recorder of Deeds office show that 28-year-old Darren Wilson married Barbara Spradling on October 24th. A municipal judge performed the ceremony in Overland, Missouri. A grand jury is now deciding whether to indict Wilson for killing Michael Brown. Wilson, who is white, fatally shot Brown, who was black, on August 9th, following a scuffle inside Wilson's police SUV that spilled onto the street. The 26-year-old, named in a police report as Becca Campbell, was holding the gun in her boyfriend's car when he unintentionally rear-ended another vehicle, a police report said.
