DOJ Working With Elijah Cummings To Protect The IRS

DOJ Working With Elijah Cummings To Protect The IRS Investors.com ^ | September 11, 2014 | IBD Editorial Posted on 9/11/2014, 6:48:53 PM by jazusamo IRS: An aide to the attorney general accidentally calls the office of the House Oversight Committee chairman, asking for help in spinning the defense of the agency whose head just said they obey the law when they can. We have commented many times of the all-too-cozy relationship between the IRS and Democratic members of the House and Senate, with members writing to the agency demanding that specific conservative groups and political action committees they find particularly irritating be subject to the "special scrutiny" that the Tea Party and other conservative and religious groups were subjected to in the ongoing scandal. Of particular interest to us has been Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., ranking member on Rep. Darrell Issa's House Government Reform and Oversight Committee, who has made every effort to keep the committee...

The Ebola virus outbreak currently holding West Africa in its grip has prompted the president of Liberia to publicly plead for help from U.S. President Barack Obama. Alleged Iggy Azalea sex tape , may be child porn.

Alleged Iggy Azalea sex tape could be her; may be child porn | Fox News   NEW YORK –   Porn purveyor Vivid Entertainment released a press release this week stating that there was an Iggy Azalea sex tape on the market. The rapper’s camp quickly denied the claim, saying it wasn't her. But in a TMZ report positing that it might indeed be the rapper in the sex tape after all, Azalea’s lawyer backtracked, reportedly saying the video could be from a spurned ex, and it may have been filmed without her knowledge or consent. That would classify it as revenge porn. But it gets even more sordid. According to TMZ, the lawyer said if it is her, she may also be underage in the tape, which would make it child pornography. Vivid’s president Steven Hirsch told FOX411 that he is “very confident that the person I saw was Iggy Azalea.” Dr. Charlotte Laws, an advocate for revenge porn victims, explained Azalea’s legal rights, should it indeed be her in the video. “If this is true, then her remedy is ci...

'3D Printable Solar Panels' Capable of Powering Almost Anything, Coming Soon!

http://bit.ly/1zfNXza Printable solar panels are going to be available to us very soon and could power “entire skyscrapers,” Australian researchers say. The very near future will see personal electronic charging transformed, but the potential is growing quickly. A team of 50 scientists in various fields worked for years to develop paper-thin, printable solar panels as part of the Victorian Organic Solar Cell Consortium. They hope to see commercial market production for use in low-power applications in the very near future. The key benefit of such technology is in transforming the way personal electronics are charged. "iPad covers, laptop bags, skins of iPhone [will no longer be] just for casing electronics, but to collect some energy as well and power those electronics," Fiona Scholes, a senior research scientist at Australia’s national science agency CSIRO, told ABC News. What’s more, the energy source can be transported to the world’s remote and developing regions in a che...

WHO Won't Move Ebola-Sickened Doctor From Sierra Leone

The World Health Organization said Saturday it could not meet a request from Sierra Leone to evacuate a doctor who contracted the deadly Ebola disease — and who would have been the first doctor from one of the Ebola-ravaged countries to receive treatment abroad. Dr. Olivet Buck, a citizen of Sierra Leone, is the fourth doctor from that country to come down with Ebola, which has been blamed for 2,400 deaths in West Africa, according to the WHO. Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea have recorded the vast majority of cases. The other three Sierra Leone doctors died in the country. Sierra Leone requested funds from the World Health Organization to evacuate the doctor to Germany on Friday, and said a Hamburg hospital was ready to receive her. But a WHO spokesman said Saturday it could not comply with the request and instead would work to give Buck "the best care possible" in Sierra Leone, including access to experimental drugs. http://nbcnews.to/1xZFbbl http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ #News

Water Wars: What It Will Be Like When Your Tap Runs Dry!

http://bit.ly/1zfNXza As the Western United States faces the prospect of suffering through a decades spanning drought, we can only guess as to what that may entail for the average person. While this sort of thing used to be considered unthinkable in the United States, recent news has given us a tiny glimpse of what the future may hold. We’ve seen for the first time, residents of California, Ohio, and Detroit lose access to their clean water supply. As our infrastructure crumbles, and weather conditions worsen, many of us can expect to see water scarcity become a part of every day life. If this problem continues to escalate, it could quickly turn our standard of living upside down. If it spreads to the urban cores of our nation, things could get pretty ugly in a very short order. http://bit.ly/1tOfkN5 #News

Swatting prank sends real life SWAT teams after gamers’ opponents

Online gamers are falling victim to a new prank known as swatting. The practice involves pranksters calling police with fake emergencies, resulting in heavily armed SWAT teams busting down gamers’ doors looking for hostages. California is among the first states to propose legislation formalizing a punishment for such fake distress calls, but many are worried the penalties may go too far. Jay Austin's Beautiful, Illegal Tiny House

Demand for housing in Washington, DC is going through the roof. Over a thousand people move to the nation's capital every month, driving up the cost of housing, and turning the city into a construction zone. Tower cranes rising high above the city streets have become so common, they're just part of the background. But as fast as the cranes can rise, demand for housing has shot up even faster, making DC among the most expensive cities in the United States. With average home prices at $453 per square foot, it's every bit as expensive as New York City. And the struggles of one homebuilder shows just why the city's shortage looks to continue for a long time. "I got driven down the tiny house road because of affordability, simplicity, sustainability, and then mobility," says Jay Austin, who designed a custom 140-square-foot house in Washington, DC. Despite the miniscule size, his "Matchbox" house is stylish, well-built, and it includes all the necessitie...

Teen converts bus into off-grid $5600 photovoltaic tiny home

Nineteen-year-old Jonathan Von Reusner was a sophomore going to college in his hometown and living at home. Looking for an affordable way to move out, he decided to buy a bus and build himself a tiny dorm on wheels. He paid $2500 for a bus he found on craigslist. Then he began to home-ify it: he stripped the seats, added a hardwood floor, a futon couch/bed, a desk, a kitchen (small fridge, water cooler, gas stove) and photovoltaics. The final cost (including PV) was $5600. It doesn't have toilet or shower facilities, but as a college student, he has free access to all that at the campus gym. His school, Bard College (2 hours north of New York City), lets him park the bus on campus, but he can't live in it. Wanting something more permanent, Von Reusner is now camping out- with permission- in the parking lot of the local Buddhist monastery. Since he plans on many more years as a student (he hopes to go to medical school after his final two years of college), he expects to be liv...

Ukraine Government Repels Rebel Attack On Airport

A convoy of more than 200 white trucks crossed the Russian border to deliver humanitarian aid to a battered Ukrainian city on Saturday, a move made without Kiev's consent yet met with silence by Ukraine's top leaders. "Early in the morning, we entered Ukraine to bring aid to Luhansk," said Yury Stepanov, a Russian who was overseeing the convoy. "We came in around 215 vehicles," he added, as workers unloaded boxes into a local warehous. The much-needed aid arrived as fighting flared up again between pro-Russian rebels and government forces, further imperiling an already fragile cease-fire in the region. http://apne.ws/1qRHB7l http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ #News

Pope Says World's Many Conflicts Amount To Piecemeal World War Three

Pope Francis said on Saturday the spate of conflicts around the globe today were effectively a "piecemeal" Third World War, condemning the arms trade and "plotters of terrorism" sowing death and destruction. Francis said in the homily of a Mass during a visit to Italy's largest war memorial, a large, Fascist-era monument where more than 100,000 soldiers who died in World War One are buried, "Humanity needs to weep and this is the time to weep." The pope began his brief visit to northern Italy by first praying in a nearby, separate cemetery for some 15,000 soldiers from five nations of the Austro-Hungarian empire which were on the losing side of the Great War that broke out 100 years ago. He said, "War is madness," in his homily before the massive, sloping granite memorial, made of 22 steps on the side of hill with three crosses at the top. http://bit.ly/1AK6oLj http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ #News

Adrian Peterson -- Booked For Child Abuse [MUG SHOT]

Adrian Peterson turned himself over to authorities early Saturday morning on child abuse charges ... faintly smiling for his mug shot. Peterson was booked in Houston just after 1 AM and released a half hour later. The football star is accused of beating his 4-year-old son with a tree branch ... hitting him so hard it left welts and caused him to bleed. Peterson actually admitted to cops he gave his son "a whooping" and says it's the same treatment he got as a kid. Peterson's lawyer adds that his client "deeply regrets the unintentional injury." The Vikings have deactivated Peterson for Sunday's game. http://bit.ly/1sJZa9x http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ #News

Tense Stand-off In Pakistani Capital As Political Crisis Drags On

A court in Pakistan ordered on Saturday that 100 opposition activists be sent to jail for holding illegal protests, prompting a tense confrontation between demonstrators and police in the center of the capital. Protesters led by Imran Khan, a former cricket star, and Tahir ul-Qadri, a firebrand cleric, have been locked in a bitter stand-off with the government for weeks, refusing to leave their protest camp until Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif resigns. On Saturday, a crowd of protesters gathered outside a court in Islamabad in a protest against its decision to send 100 activists to jail for two weeks, with some trying to slash the tires of a police van and shouting "Go, Nawaz, go!" Although the crowd eventually left peacefully after a two-hour stand-off with police, the episode highlighted just how nervous both sides of the conflict remained after talks to resolve the crisis failed several times. Protest leaders accuse Sharif of rigging last year's election which brought hi...

U.N. Threatens To Cut Afghanistan Aid If Election Staff Harassed

The United Nations threatened on Saturday to cut aid to Afghanistan if its staff are harassed, responding to tensions surrounding its participation in a drawn-out and bitter investigation into fraud in the still-unresolved presidential election. The warning came a day after dozens of demonstrators gathered outside the Kabul headquarters of the world body and accused it of aiding vote-rigging. It was another sign of heightened anxiety in the run-up to the release of final election results over the next week. A two-month-long crisis over results of the vote to succeed President Hamid Karzai has been destabilizing Afghanistan just months before most international troops withdraw. The U.N. has been monitoring a vote-rigging investigation since both candidates - former Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah and ex-Finance Minister Ashraf Ghani - each claimed victory and accused the other of fraud in early July. U.N. workers have frequently been caught up in heated disputes by the rival candida...

100 Trucks of Russia's Second Ukraine Aid Convoy Cross Border!

http://bit.ly/1zfNXza The first 100 trucks in Russia’s 2nd convoy carrying long-awaited humanitarian aid for devastated areas of eastern Ukraine have crossed the border after weeks of delays that occurred despite an agreement on relief corridors in the Minsk ceasefire deal. The first batch of trucks had passed through Russia’s ‘Donetsk’ checkpoint into the buffer zone shortly before midnight on Friday. Trucks had to wait for several hours to get clearance for further movement from Russian customs officers supervised by their Ukrainian colleagues. By 3am GMT a total of 100 trucks had been cleared for crossing into Ukraine, local customs spokesman Rayan Farukshin told Ria Novosti. Around 200 white Kamaz trucks were waiting for their turn to undergo customs proceedings, as the first group moved into Ukrainian territory early on Saturday morning. http://bit.ly/1AIEMGs #News
