US Vice President Joe Biden says Russian President Vladimir Putin has " simple stark choice".

An end to the ten month conflict in Ukraine was the dominant theme at the second day of the Munich Security Conference. Reports of intensified shelling by separatists on all front lines in the east of the country added impetus to the discussions. A military solution, supporting Kyiv with defensive aid and Russian President Vladimir Putin's stance were constants in the debates. "We will continue to provide Ukraine with security assistance, not to encourage war, but to allow Ukraine to defend i… READ MORE : http://bit.ly/1KuRori What are the top stories today? Hundreds of Babies Born With HIV Unnecessarily in Ukraine Due to Fighting

A new report says the war in Ukraine has severely impacted some of the tiniest victims as hundreds of babies were born with HIV unnecessarily last year due to a shortage of vital drugs. International relief organizations like UNICEF are concerned that too many pregnant women infected with HIV are passing the virus onto their unborn children, a Sky News investigation reveals. The numbers of infants born with HIV contracted in the womb is beginning to rise for the first time in more than a decade. http://bit.ly/1zuFqum http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ

Brian Williams' Iraq War Account Isn't His Only Story Being Questioned

NBC News anchor Brian Williams has taken himself off the "Nightly News" desk for the next "several days" after being criticized this week for allegedly misremembering a story about his reporting during the Iraq War in 2003. And now, other bits of his past reporting are being questioned, too. Williams' Iraq story—in which he once claimed to have been in a helicopter downed by RPG fire— and his reporting from New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina are being examined as part of an internal fact-checking investigation at NBC. The fact-checkers will also take a look at any other questionable incidents that come up during the process. Williams has already admitted to the falsehood of his Iraq War story, but the early information about his reporting from New Orleans is mixed. http://on.mash.to/1xLAsnA http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ

Saudi Arabia's Grip On Russia: Promises to Cut Oil Prices If Putin Backs Away from Assad

http://bit.ly/1zfNXza MOSCOW (Sputnik), Daria Chernyshova — Russia’s support of Syrian President Bashar Assad could be swayed if Saudi Arabia promises to cut oil output, as it will lead to higher oil prices profitable for the Russian economy. “Russia would be amenable to a deal to remove Assad because Russia is spending lots of money on Assad and Assad is not winning anyway. Russia would like to stop the expense of providing Assad with weapons and spare parts,” Kenneth Katzman, a Middle East analyst for the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service which conducts research and analysis for the US Congress. “Russia might accept a deal under which Assad leaves office but the military and security structure of the state is preserved, in order that ISIS or other extremists do not gain total control of Syria,” Katzman added. http://bit.ly/1zuFnyK

At Least 34 Killed in Three Bombings in Baghdad

At least 23 people were killed and at least 50 were wounded in three bombings in eastern Baghdad on Saturday, security officials said, hours before the government was to lift a long-standing nighttime curfew on the capital. The first blast occurred in the Shi'ite neighborhood of New Baghdad leaving 22 dead and the second one targeted the bustling Sharqa market district killing 10. A third bomb killed two and wounded another seven. The interior ministry spokesman Brigadier General Saad Maan said he did not believe the blasts were linked to the decision to lift the curfew. http://yhoo.it/1LZCnzu http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ

Bobbi Kristina Brown Relatives In Fight at Hotel

Police said, two relatives of Bobbi Kristina Brown got in a fight early Friday at an Atlanta hotel. Atlanta police told NBC News, Shayne Brown, a cousin of pop star Bobby Brown, took himself to the hospital after Tina Brown, Bobby Brown's sister, hit him with a bottle. Tina Brown left the scene before police got there, they said. The nature of the fight was not clear. 21 year-old Bobbi Kristina Brown, the daughter of Bobby Brown and the late pop diva Whitney Houston, was found face down in a bathtub last week. Family and friends have said, she was put in a medically induced coma and has been on a ventilator. http://nbcnews.to/1KsSG6h http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ

U.S. Approves Medicare Coverage for Lung Cancer Screening

U.S. health regulators on Thursday approved Medicare coverage for lung cancer screening by low-dose CT, the first time the government health insurance program for the elderly and disabled will pay for such a program of early detection in an effort to save lives. The decision applies to Medicare beneficiaries aged 55-77 who are current smokers or who quit within the last 15 years, and who racked up at least 30 "pack years." The latter is possible if they smoked one pack a day for 30 years, for instance, two packs a day for 15 or three packs a day for a decade. http://yhoo.it/1xIV9Rj http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ

Jordan Carries Out More Air Strikes on Islamic State

Jordan carried out a third straight day of air strikes on Islamic State targets on Saturday, it said, in response to the group's killing of a captive Jordanian pilot. Using a derogatory Arabic name for the militants, State television in a bulletin said, “Sorties of air force fighters today bombed bases of the Daesh terror gang.” It said some of the targets were in the Syrian city of Taqqa but gave no other details. Jordan began on Thursday what it called an "earthshaking" response to the death of the pilot. http://bit.ly/1uoe4pj http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ

The index tracks in US dollars and measures global supply and demand for commodity shipments among bulk carriers including raw materials like lumber, coal, metallic ores, and grains. What makes this particular measurement so distinct from others, according to economic Howard Simmons, is that the BDI “is totally devoid of speculative content” because “people don’t book freighters unless they have cargo to move.” The head of China’s Dagong Rating Agency, Guan Jianzhong, had some very blunt words for the world’s investors and policymakers overnight. Top Court Says Canadians Have Right to Die, Strikes Down Ban

The Supreme Court of Canada overturned a ban on physician-assisted suicide on Friday, unanimously reversing a decision it made in 1993 and putting Canada in the company of a handful of Western countries to make it legal. The top court said mentally competent, consenting adults who have intolerable physical or psychological suffering from a severe and incurable medical condition have the right to a doctor's help to die. The illness does not have to be terminal. The decision takes effect in 12 months. The court said, "We do not agree that the existential formulation of the right to life requires an absolute prohibition on assistance in dying, or that individuals cannot 'waive' their right to life." http://bit.ly/1A1CtlA http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ

Syria Death Toll Now Exceeds 210,000: Rights Group

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the death toll after nearly four years of civil war in Syria has risen to more than 210,000, nearly half of them civilians, but the real figure is probably much higher. The Observatory, which is based in Britain and has a network of activists across Syria, said that 10,664 children and 6,783 women were among the dead. But the group's chief, Rami Abdul Rahman, said the true toll on both sides was likely to be much higher -- perhaps by more than 85,000. Syria had a population of some 23 million before the outbreak of the war. http://bit.ly/1Ksd6w5 http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ

Israeli Official Suggests Boehner Misled Netanyahu on Congress Speech

A senior Israeli official suggested on Friday that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had been misled into thinking an invitation to address the U.S. Congress on Iran next month was fully supported by the Democrats. Netanyahu was invited by the Republican speaker of the house, John Boehner, to address Congress on March 3, an invitation Boehner originally described as bipartisan. The move angered the White House, which is upset about the event coming two weeks before Israeli elections and the fact that Netanyahu, who has a testy relationship with President Obama, is expected to be critical of U.S. policy on Iran. http://bit.ly/1xGwGft http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ

North Korea Test-Fires 'Intelligent' Anti-Ship Rocket, New Threats On US

http://bit.ly/1zfNXza North Korea has test-fired a new "ultra-precision" intelligent rocket to be deployed across its navy, state media said Saturday, in the latest evidence that Pyongyang is stepping up its development of missile technology. The exercise was carried out by the North's East Sea fleet under the watchful eye of leader Kim Jong-Un, Pyongyang's official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported. "The ultra-precision anti-ship rocket blasted off from a rocket boat. The intelligent rocket precisely sought, tracked and hit the 'enemy' ship after taking a safe flight," KCNA said, without giving a location or date. The new anti-ship rocket would be deployed across North Korea's navy "before long", it added. Satisfied with the "perfect" development of the new rocket, Kim called for the production of "more tactical guided weapons of high precision and intelligence". http://bit.ly/1DLLyxF

US Charges 6 Suspects with Aiding Terrorists

http://bit.ly/1zfNXza Six individuals from St. Louis, suburban Chicago and upstate New York have been charged with providing support to radicals in Syria suspected of having ties to ISIS, according to charges unsealed tonight and law enforcement sources. The suspects include men and women of Bosnian descent, ranging in age from 42 to 26. They are charged with conspiracy and providing material support to terrorists. Among the items shipped by some of the defendants include firearms accessories, camouflage clothing, military boots, rifle scopes, gloves and other military gear. Goods were allegedly shipped through the U.S. Postal Service to Istanbul, Turkey, and then smuggled into Syria. Some of the suspects charged are believed to have been communicating with Abdullah Ramo Pazara, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Bosnia who is believed to have been killed in 2014 in Syria. http://bit.ly/1DLLyxu

Ukraine War: Fears of Western Split As Germany Leans On Russia

http://bit.ly/1zfNXza Fears of a split in Western strategy towards Ukraine grew on Friday night after Germany directly rebuffed America over its threats to send weapons to Kiev. As Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor, arrived in Moscow for 11th hour peace talks with Vladimir Putin, her ministers said that allowing US arms to be used against separatist rebels would "pour oil onto the flames". The warning from Ursula von der Leyen, the German defence minister, followed Washington's announcement on Thursday that it might give Ukrainian government forces sophisticated defensive weapons to halt the rebels' recent rapid advance. Elements within the Pentagon now believe that the only way to force the rebels to the negotiating table is to even the military balance. But Mrs von der Leyen claimed that would simply give Mr Putin an excuse to arm the rebels more more heavily, or even send in the Russian army openly. "In Ukraine there are already far too many weapons,"...

EU Wants to Snoop On Skype to Combat Threats

http://bit.ly/1zfNXza The EU agency for judicial cooperation says the bloc needs to develop a common approach to lawfully intercept services like Skype and Viber, to help keep track of European militants arriving back home from the Middle East. The measures were outlined in a Eurojust report, which was discussed by a committee of the European Parliament on Thursday, said Reuters after they saw the report. Following deadly terror attacks in Paris last month, EU nations are worried about the danger of radicalized and trained Islamists returning from the Middle East. Militants have often used social networks to spread ideas, jihadist propaganda and recruit new members. "The use of the internet for terrorist purposes creates an additional burden for investigations and prosecutions of foreign fighters," the Eurojust report said. The report touched on the fact that "the interception of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) communications (e.g. Skype, Viber, etc.) is problematic...

Mysterious "Dirty Rain" Falling In Eastern Washington and Oregon

http://bit.ly/1zfNXza While it's been a routine, rainy day in Seattle, those over in southeastern Washington and northeastern Oregon have had a strange phenomenon: A dirty, milky rain. Several reports have come in from Spokane, Walla Walla, Pendleton -- and really across much of that region. The rain has left a dirty residue on cars and has flooded social media over there with people wondering what is causing the odd rain. So far, the official cause remains a mystery, but officials with the National Weather Service offices in Spokane and Pendleton are looking into it. The Walla Walla emergency management office posted photos of their area, which show much more of an ashen look to their rain. Their office suggests it all could be ash washing out from an eruption of Volcano Shiveluch in Kamchatka Krai, Russia. Their office says it spewed an ash plume to about the 22,000-foot level in late January and has deposited ash in a widespread area across parts of the Northwest. http://bit.ly...

Iran criticizes UNSC inaction regarding Israel's airstrike in Syria

Iran has criticized the UN Security Council for failing to take action against Israel over its recent deadly airstrike in Syria’s Golan Heights. Iran’s ambassador to UN also said the fact that Israel’s impunity does not serve peace and security in the world and will lead to the deaths of more innocent people. The Israeli airstrike in the Golan Heights on January 18 claimed the lives of six Hezbollah members and one Iranian general. Israel has carried out numerous airstrikes in Syria over the past couple of years. The U-N has failed to take any action over the air attacks, which have been condemned by Damascus as violation of its sovereignty.
