The same day the proposal was released, on a Friday of a three day holiday weekend, ATF opened up a shortened 30-day period for the public to submit comments about the new regulation. But it turns out, ATF has been working on a ban of AR-15 "green-tip" ammunition for quite some time and has already issued the ban in its new, 2014 Regulation Guide. For reference, ATF Regulation Guides come out approximately every ten years. When you take a look at the 2005 ATF Regulation Guide, you'll see an exemption for AR-15 "green-tip" ammunition, which means it exempted from the definition of "armor piercing" and therefore is legal on the federal level. http://bit.ly/1H9MZrU

The study says the rate for young females increased from two-point-two per 100-thousand people in 2007 to three-point-four in 20-13. The rate for boys and young men also spiked from ten-point-seven to eleven-point-nine for the same number as females during the same period. The study, conducted by researchers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, did not mention the reason for the surge. Rosetta's flyby took it from the shady side of Comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko towards sunlight, putting the sun directly behind the spacecraft and showing scientists how reflective the comet's surface was. The image, taken when the Rosetta spacecraft was 9.5 miles (15.3 kilometers) from Comet 67P/C-G's surface puts the celestial body's dusty, craggy face on display. Some of the world's most important museums are confirming what everyone has suspected all along but didn't dare say: selfie sticks are stupid. If ever there was a product that preyed so heavily on our fear of insignificance, it's the selfie stick, or as some would call it, the narcisstick. The Museum of Modern of Art has long removed the sticks from their exhibition halls to prevent damage to the artwork and The Australian Open has also banned selfie sticks, outside of designated selfie zones. A new CNN International poll finds that if the Department of Homeland Security shuts down later this month, most Americans would point the finger at congressional Republicans. The survey’s results find that if DHS shuts down on Feb. 27 — the date when the department is set to run out of funds — 53 percent of Americans would blame the Republicans in Congress. Thirty percent of respondents said they would blame President Barack Obama, while 13 percent said they would blame both. House Republicans have passed a bill to fund the department that would also unravel Obama’s executive action granting legal status to millions of undocumented immigrants. The operator of the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant has found relatively high levels of radioactivity in water collected from a ditch in the upper part of a drainage channel at the complex. Tokyo Electric Power Company says its workers discovered that the water collected on Tuesday contained 1,900 becquerels per liter of beta-particle-emitting substances. The utility's officials suspect water from the ditch spilled into the sea through the drainage channel. The ditch runs near a tank storing highly radioactive water. TEPCO workers have checked the tank, but found no evidence of a leak. But they are still investigating the possibility of a leak of contaminated water from the tank to the ditch. Last month, the density of radioactive substances in the lower portion of the drainage channel briefly soared to more than 10 times the normal figure.
