Beautiful but Deadly! Amazing Blue Glow of Waters Around Hong Kong

http://bit.ly/1zfNXza Dahboo7 On Zeekly: http://bit.ly/1AVK44S Eerie fluorescent blue patches of water glimmering off Hong Kong's seashore are magnificent, disturbing and potentially toxic, marine biologists say. The glow is an indicator of a harmful algal bloom created by something called Noctiluca scintillans, nicknamed Sea Sparkle. It looks like algae and can act like algae. But it's not quite. It is a single-celled organism that technically can function as both animal and plant. These type blooms are triggered by farm pollution that can be devastating to marine life and local fisheries, according to University of Georgia oceanographer Samantha Joye, who was shown Associated Press photos of the glowing water. "Those pictures are magnificent. It's just extremely unfortunate that the mysterious and majestic blue hue is created by a Noctiluca," Joye wrote in an email Thursday. http://yhoo.it/1CnT6IL

Russian FM accuses Kiev of “monstrous” Donetsk shelling

Russia has condemned the deadly shelling of a bus is eastern Ukraine as a monstrous crime. Moscow accuses Kiev of launching the attack, which left at least 13 people in Donetsk. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the move was a crude provocation aimed at undermining peace efforts. He said Moscow has demanded that the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe immediately investigate the incident. He said the OSCE has been also asked to intervene to prevent any further pointless civilian casualties in east Ukraine. Meanwhile, Ukrainian troops have withdrawn from the Donetsk airport. This, after deadly clashes at the flashpoint site which claimed the lives of several Ukrainian soldiers. International monitors say the death toll from the nine-month conflict in eastern Ukraine has passed five-thousand, with more than a million others displaced. Spies, Lies and Death: Plot Thickens in Argentine Scandal

People hold up signs in the wake of prosecutor Alberto Nisman's suspicious death Saturday. He was working hard preparing for a congressional hearing on his claim that Argentina's president tried to whitewash Iran's involvement in a bombing attack that killed 85 people, a make-or-break day in his career as prosecutor. He was killed by a bullet to the head and his body found on the floor of his bathroom on Sunday night. His death was initially ruled a suicide, but friends and family refuse to believe he was capable of killing himself. Nisman's death has raised serious doubts among Argentines about the intelligence service, the justice system and politics. http://bit.ly/1yOVnKc http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ

Air and sea ports reopen in Adan after Yemeni govt. deal with Ansarullah fighters

Air and sea ports have resumed activity in the Yemeni city of Aden a day after the president struck an agreement with Ansarullah fighters to end tensions in the country. On Wednesday, security authorities had closed all crossings into the southern port city after days of clashes between Houthi Ansarullah fighters and government forces in the capital Sana'a. Now, officials say there is no need to continue the closure as security concerns are over after the deal. According to the new agreement, Ansarullah fighters will pull out from the presidential compound. The deal also includes a clause that would answer their demands to amend the constitution and expand their role in parliament and state institutions. Devil's Hand Sign of the Horns Thrown Up by Pope Francis In Philippines!?

http://bit.ly/1zfNXza First , Look at these Images: http://bit.ly/1JelsqF Pope Francis, during his recent love-filled tour of the Phillippines, raised his hand in a salute and prompted some Internet tongue-wagging. Standing next to Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle in Manila, the Pope raised his index and pinkie fingers, keeping his third and fourth fingers down and his thumb extended. The cardinal did the same. All of which prompted the Los Angeles Times to post on its music blog that the pontiff might have been making the sign of the horns, a heavy metal staple among concert fans, or perhaps a centuries-old devil sign. http://nydn.us/1yTLhLm

U.N. Says Cash to Repair Gaza Homes Will Run Out by End-month

A United Nations spokesman said on Thursday the agency in charge of aiding Palestinians will run out of money by the end of January to repair homes in Gaza damaged in the 2014 war with Israel, worsening an already dire humanitarian situation. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency said it had received only $135 million of an estimated $720 million needed to rebuild and repair destroyed and damaged homes and for rent subsidies for people made homeless by the conflict. http://bit.ly/1yTLga5 http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ

Captured Ukraine troops forced to face angry crowd after Donetsk bus stop shelling

Captured Ukrainian servicemen have been taken to the scene of Thursday's deadly bus stop attack in Donetsk and paraded before an angry crowd, firmly convinced that Kyiv was behind the bloodshed. Rebel leader Alexander Zakharchenko had urged residents to gather, promising them the opportunity to confront prisoners of war. U.N. Condemns Attack on Libyan Central Bank, Demands Inquiry

The United Nations on Thursday condemned a reported attack on an office of Libya's central bank in the eastern city of Benghazi, calling for an inquiry into the incident that has complicated talks between the country's warring parties. On Wednesday, a rival, self-declared parliament based in Tripoli said it would suspend its participation in U.N.-brokered talks, accusing troops loyal to the recognized government of attacking the bank. The official government, which has been forced to work out of the east since an armed faction called Libya Dawn seized Tripoli, denied the attack, saying its forces were securing the central bank in Benghazi. http://bit.ly/1JnZyzq http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ

'Too Short': Japan Struggles With ISIS Kidnap Deadline

Japan is struggling to contact ISIS extremists holding two hostages ahead of a deadline for their execution, an official said on Thursday. "The other side hasn't said anything at all to the government itself," Japanese government spokesman Yoshihide Suga said. "Japan will not cave in to terrorism and will look to continue to contribute to the efforts against terrorism with the international community." ISIS on Tuesday released video showing 47-year-old journalist Kenji Goto and 42-year-old Haruna Yukawa, a self-styled private security consultant, kneeling and handcuffed next to a black-clad militant who threatened to kill them within 72 hours if a $200-million ransom was not paid. The militant is thought to be the notorious "Jihadi John" who appears in other videos in which Western hostages were beheaded. Based on the time the video was released, the deadline will expire Friday afternoon Japan time. http://nbcnews.to/1CmB09X http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ

Fukushima News 1/21/15: Tepco's Planned Radioactive Wastewater Dump Into Pacific

Mirrored from MissingSky101 (Jan 21, 2015) * Regulators approve Fukushima wastewater drainage Nuclear & Energy Jan. 21, 2015 - Updated 02:35 UTC-5 Japan's nuclear regulator has approved a plan by Tokyo Electric Power Company, or TEPCO, to drain filtered wastewater from the firm's crippled Fukushima Daiichi plant into the sea. TEPCO officials plan to pump up contaminated groundwater through wells built around structures housing the plant's damaged reactors. The firm also plans to reduce the level of radioactive material in the water before releasing it into the nearby Pacific. On Wednesday, the Nuclear Regulation Authority approved TEPCO's plan to install drainpipes and a pumping system and to reduce the level of radioactive cesium-137 to less than one becquerel per liter. It also agreed with the firm's policy of starting the drainage system gradually. The regulator asked the utility to ensure that no wastewater leaks and to fully disclose measurements for radio...

Russia Has 9,000 Troops in Ukraine, Poroshenko Tells Davos Forum

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko accused Russia on Wednesday of sending 9,000 troops to back separatist rebels in the east of his country, and the IMF chief said she backed extra financial help for Kiev as the conflict inflicts severe economic damage. Moscow challenged Poroshenko to present facts to prove his allegations. However, he won support from NATO, which said the amount of heavy military equipment used by Russian troops in eastern Ukraine had increased, and the alliance repeated its call for the forces to withdraw. Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Poroshenko made one of Kiev's boldest assertions yet that Russia's military is directly involved in a conflict in which more than 4,800 people have died since last April. http://bit.ly/1JjJley http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ

Air Force Expanded Drone Fleet to Unjustifiable Level - Pentagon Watchdog

http://bit.ly/1zfNXza The US Air Force has not adequately justified the purchase of 46 additional armed Reaper drones, according to the Pentagon’s inspector general. The expanded fleet could equal a waste of $8.8 billion, the watchdog said. “We determined the Air Force's Air Combat Command MQ-9 Requirements Branch did not demonstrate the need for the MQ-9 planned procurement quantities,” the Pentagon inspector general said in a declassified September report obtained by The Guardian through a Freedom of Information Act request. “As a result, the Air Force risks spending approximately $8.8 billion to purchase, operate, and maintain 46 MQ-9 aircraft it may not need.” The Air Force has built up an armed MQ-9 Reaper fleet that numbers 401 – up from 60 in 2007. In that time, the cost of purchasing drones has hit more than $11.4 billion, according to the Pentagon’s report, meaning several tens of billions of dollars more in maintenance and operational costs. http://bit.ly/1yPIQcw

Exposed! New Documents Show FBI Targeted NATO Protesters

http://bit.ly/1zfNXza Dahboo7 On Zeekly: http://bit.ly/1AVK44S Newly released documents give hard evidence of an amorphous FBI investigation into the political lives of Occupy participants, one apparently animated by a belief that adherents to the political philosophy of anarchism are prone to criminal activity. Following the protests of the May 2012 NATO Summit in Chicago, rumors and reports abounded of local police and FBI agents raiding apartments, infiltrating meeting places, and questioning activists—particularly anarchists, or those appearing to identify as anarchists—in the months leading up to the summit. A number of the firsthand accounts of encounters with the FBI and Chicago police came from Occupy Chicago activists, who housed out-of-town protesters and planned many of the weekend’s actions. The existence, if not the full extent, of the Chicago Police Department investigation was confirmed during the trial of three young summit protesters dubbed the NATO 3. In testimony fr...

Throw it back! Fishing trawler crew discover terrifying prehistoric shark with 300 TEETH among their

A group of fishermen got quite a shock when they pulled a terrifying prehistoric shark from the water near Lakes Entrance in Victoria's east. The dark brown, eel-like looking creature is a frilled shark, also known as the 'living fossil', and was named for its six pairs of frill-like gills along with its dorsal fins, similar to the predatory fish. The shark's origin dates back 80 million years and is only one of two species still alive from this period.South East Trawl Fishing Association (SETFA) chief executive Simon Boag told the ABC the men who found the shark were puzzled by their find. 'It has 300 teeth over 25 rows, so once you're in that mouth, you're not coming out,' he said.'It does look 80 million years old. It looks prehistoric, it looks like it's from another time,' he said. The shark that was pulled from the water was two metres long and caught at 700 metres. Usually the species is found deeper at 1,500 metres but it rare to fin...

WTF! NJ Cops Shoot 9 Times, Kill Man with 'Hands Up'

http://bit.ly/1zfNXza Police in New Jersey have released a video showing two police officers shooting a black man dead after he tried to get out of his car with his hands up. The incident happened on December 30, but the recording has only just been made available. The video shows two New Jersey cops in Bridgeton pulling over a black sedan. Initially nothing seemed to be a problem as the officers, Braheme Days and Roger Worley asked the driver, to show them his drivers license. The driver, who had been traveling with a passenger – also sitting up front – had been told that he had been pulled over because he had failed to halt at a stop sign. However, the situation began to escalate as they officers changed their tune and shouted at the driver and the passenger to show them their hands. The driver’s left hand can visibly be seen out of the window. The police told the driver and the passenger to stay still or they would kill them if they moved. http://bit.ly/1yPIORY
