Government spokeswoman Rosario Murillo said a committee formed by the government to study the event determined it was a "relatively small" meteorite that "appears to have come off an asteroid that was passing close to Earth." Murillo said Nicaragua will ask international experts to help local scientists in understanding what happened. The crater left by the meteorite had a radius of 12 meters (39 feet) and a depth of 5 meters (16 feet), said Humberto Saballos, a volcanologist with the Nicaraguan Institute of Territorial Studies who was on the committee. Ukraine will receive military weapons from five NATO members, president Petro Poroshenko has revealed. The US, France, Italy, Poland and Norway will supply the arms, he added. The secretary-general of the Arab League has appealed to Arab countries to find the political will to confront Islamic State insurgents and other militant groups, describing them as an existential threat. One civilian was killed in shelling in the Ukrainian port city of Mariupol and large explosions were heard near the airport in Donetsk early Sunday, raising fears that a cease-fire signed two days ago is on the verge of collapse. A spokesman for Ukraine's national security council, Volodymyr Polyovyi, said at a briefing in Kiev that rebels appeared to have tried to attack the airport, which has been under the control of government troops since May and has come under unremitting attacks from pro-Russia separatist rebels since then. Victims of beating caught on camera near a Springfield bar want justice. Gang attacks couple in downtown Springfield. Police in Springfield, Missouri released shocking surveillance footage of a gang of six black males viciously attacking a man and his girlfriend in a driveway near a downtown nightclub. The woman, Meredith Cole, told police she was sexually harassed outside the club by several of the black males on August 22. She quickly went inside to retrieve her boyfriend, Alex Vassey, a DJ at the Outland Ballroom. The pair then went outside to see if they could identify any of the harassers. U.S. warplanes launched four air strikes against Islamic State militants threatening western Iraq's Haditha Dam early on Sunday, witnesses and senior officials said, broadening Washington's campaign against the fighters. The leader of a pro-Iraqi government paramilitary force in the west said the strikes wiped out an Islamic State patrol trying to attack the dam - the country's second biggest hydroelectric facility which also provides millions with water.
