The World Health Organization said Monday that the Ebola virus is spreading exponentially across Liberia as patients fill taxis in a fruitless search for medical care. In Sierra Leone, a doctor working for WHO tested positive and was preparing to be evacuated from the country. Meanwhile, doctors say that the newest U.S. patient, a doctor infected in Liberia, was feeling a little better and could even eat a little. The European Council on Monday formally adopted a package of further sanctions against Russia over its actions in eastern Ukraine, but is delaying the enforcement to assess the implementation of the cease-fire agreement first. The sanctions will be implemented "in the next few days," the President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy said in a statement. The EU sanctions are expected to be coordinated with a new round of U.S. sanctions, a Western diplomat said. The fast food industry is toying with a new idea. Now, with so many workers clamoring for higher pay, many executives in the fast food market are looking toward ROBOTS as their next new-hires. The burger-making robot will cost millions to develop, but if they can build one that lasts, corporate investors say it could end up being much cheaper than raising the minimum wage to 15 dollars an hour. A company called Momentum Machines has already made a robot that can put out one burger every 10 seconds. And, it literally does everything. From slicing the tomatoes and pickles, to grinding the meat and toasting the bun. The company says their new machine is more sanitary, more consistent and more productive than a human workforce. The shaky cease-fire seems to be holding in Ukraine, but the conflict on the ground still remains. The cease-fire was imposed late Friday, but was thrown into peril over the weekend by the shelling of Mariupol and fighting near the airport of the rebel-held city of Donetsk in the country's east. Col. Andriy Lysenko, a spokesman for Ukraine's National Security Council, told reporters Monday there had been about half a dozen rebel violations of the cease-fire. NATO released satellite images showing Russian forces inside Ukraine, but Russia has repeatedly denied its involvement. Now, Amnesty International has its own satellite images showing the build-up of artillery and armor in Ukraine. Hot weather and shifting winds fanned the flames of a preexisting wildfire in the backcountry of Yosemite National Park on Sunday, prompting the helicopter evacuation of about 100 visitors. The evacuations included hikers who had climbed the park's well-known Half Dome peak, which rises about 5,000 feet above the valley below Others were airlifted from campgrounds and hiking trails as the fire unexpectedly grew and advanced toward populated parts of the park. The Somali militant group al-Shabab has claimed responsibility for a suicide attack that killed at least 12 people near Mogadishu, a local official says. A security source said Monday that Islamic State fighters attacked a riverside town north of Baghdad, with gunboats and a car bomb, killing 17 people and wounding 54. Scientists have created the newest map of places most at risk of an Ebola outbreak, and say regions likely to be home to animals harboring the virus are more widespread than previously feared--particularly in West Africa. The researchers said better understanding of where people come into contact with Ebola-infected animals - for example through hunting or eating bush meat - and how to stop them contracting the deadly disease, is crucial to preventing future outbreaks.
