Hurricane Hell: Tourists Trapped In Cabo Desperate To Escape

Hurricane Odile mangled Mexico’s Los Cabos resort five days ago, and in its wake left a wasteland: Waterlogged hotels, scarce resources and tourists — including hundreds of Americans — desperate for any scrap of reliable information and the fastest flight home. By Thursday, about 15,000 tourists out of an estimated 30,000 had gotten out of the ravaged resort, Mexican officials said, with a handful of American airlines among those resuming flights. http://nbcnews.to/1r7YKt3 http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ #News

California Wildfire Only 10% Contained As Alleged Arsonist Pleads Not Guilty

An enormous wildfire in California continues to grow, threatening lives and property in El Dorado County. Firefighters have contained just 10% of the King Fire, which has burned 76,000 acres and threatened 12,000 homes since Sunday. High temperatures, strong winds and decreased humidity could stoke the blaze further. Also on Friday, the man who has been charged with deliberately setting the fire, Wayne Allen Huntsman, pled not guilty during his arraignment. His bail was set at $10 million. http://on.mash.to/1uldZO7 http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ #News

Quarter of Americans want their state to secede from US

Nearly one-quarter of US residents would consider their state seceding from the US, according to a new poll from Reuters and Ipsos. Asked about how they view the idea of forming an independent country, 23.9 percent of respondents either strongly or generally supported the move, but 53 percent strongly oppose any such action. Among supporters, Obamacare, foreign policy and political gridlock were frequently cited. RT’s Ameera David has more on the surprising numbers. Huge License Plate Scanner Networks Track Drivers

A rapidly expanding digital network that uses cameras mounted to traffic signals and police cruisers tracks the movements of millions of vehicles across the U.S., regardless of whether the drivers are being investigated by law enforcement. The license plate scanning systems have multiplied across the U.S. over the last decade, funded largely by Homeland Security grants, and judges recently have upheld authorities' rights to keep details from hundreds of millions of scans a secret from the public. Such decisions come as a patchwork of local laws and regulations govern the use of such technology and the distribution of the information they collect, inflaming civil liberties advocates who see this as the next frontier in the fight over digital surveillance. http://apne.ws/1uldWlj http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ #News

Perry Warns Americans Should Be 'Substantially Concerned' of Terrorists Crossing Border!

http://bit.ly/1zfNXza Governor Rick Perry (R-TX) argued that Americans should be “substantially concerned” that terrorists could sneak across the southern border and that the federal government wasn’t even giving “lip service” to securing the border on Thursday’s “Hannity” on the Fox News Channel. “Americans are still, and they should be, substantially concerned that the southern border of the United States and Mexico is potentially a place where radicalized terrorists could penetrate into the United States with intent to do harm to American citizens, and that's the reason that the federal government continues to fail, from my perspective, in securing that border, putting the resources there that we know can make that border substantially more secure than it is today” he said. http://bit.ly/1u829dZ #News

Iran's Zarif on why Tehran won’t team up with U.S. on Islamic State group

U.S. efforts to garner regional support for fighting Islamic State militants, including an all-out effort this week by Secretary of State John Kerry, has hit a roadblock in Iran. It’s partly because the leadership isn’t convinced the U.S. government “was serious,” Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif told the PBS NewsHour’s chief foreign affairs correspondent Margaret Warner on Friday. When Warner asked why Iranian President Hassan Rouhani rebuffed overtures from the Obama administration to cooperate, Zarif said, “Because we were not convinced that the United States government was serious.” For more, visit http://to.pbs.org/1ukLVKP Follow us on Twitter - http://bit.ly/YZHJqS #News

Authorities in Minnesota have filed a petition seeking a protective order for the son of Vikings running back Adrian Peterson. The petition asks a judge to block Peterson from using any corporal punishment or physical discipline on the 4-year-old boy. It also would block any unauthorized or unsupervised contact. Peterson faces a child abuse charge in Texas for using a wooden switch to spank the boy in May. U.S. Senate Democrats Propose Exit Tax For Inverting Companies

Two Senate Democrats want to force U.S. companies to pay an exit tax on any profits held overseas if the companies decide to reincorporate abroad to cut their tax bills, the latest in a slew of proposals to stem such "inversion" deals. Senators Sherrod Brown and Dick Durbin on Friday released details of a bill that would require foreign earnings that have not been repatriated, or brought into the United States, to be taxed as income at the point when a U.S. company inverts. http://yhoo.it/1qROYwg http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ #News

Airport Lockdown Followed Drug Shooting in phoenix

Police in Phoenix have arrested a shooting suspect at that city’s airport, ending a manhunt that shut down a terminal and resulted in massive delays and rerouted flights for travelers, police said. The identity of the suspect was not immediately released, but Phoenix Police Sgt. Steve Martos said he was arrested at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport at around 6:50 p.m., about three hours after he and another suspect — who are wanted in a shooting at a gas station — fled to the airport and caused the lockdown. No flights were allowed to enter or leave Terminal 4 while the search was underway, and the terminal reopened at around 6:10 p.m. Police said the two men were wanted in a shooting that occurred at a gas station at 2:45 p.m., and that the suspects fled in a Pontiac Grand Am towards the airport. One of the men was taken into custody a short time later at the airport, but the second man eluded police who shut down the terminal as they searched for him. NBC affiliate KPNX reported that the t...

Killings In Guinea Show Mistrust In Africa Ebola Fight: WHO

The killing in Guinea of eight people trying to educate locals about Ebola showed how much rural populations in West Africa mistrust authorities after years of instability and conflict, the World Health Organization said on Friday. WHO expert Pierre Formenty said, "We need to continue the combat against Ebola, we need to investigate these murders, but it should not stop us. The virus is spreading in the Liberian capital Monrovia, where there is a high number of cases and a "vacuum" of authority in many areas of the city of around one million." http://bit.ly/1ujRdpP http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ #News

Manhunt for Alleged Pennsylvania Cop Killer Forces Residents to Shelter

The search for a self-taught survivalist accused of killing a Pennsylvania state trooper has entered its seventh day as police looking for Eric Frein raced early this morning toward an area near the home he had been sharing with his parents, closing roads and forcing people who live nearby into an emergency shelter. "When I got here, the state troopers were just flying out of here," Canadensis, Pennsylvania, resident Suzanne Zalebuck said. Police searching for Frein, 31, were acting on a tip that he was nearby. He allegedly ambushed two state troopers last Friday at the barracks in Blooming Grove Township, killing Bryon Dickson and injuring Alex Douglass. A funeral for Dickson was held Thursday. "We still think he's in the area but want to make sure we're covering every base," Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan said. "We can't let him leave this area because we think he'd be a danger to law enforcement and society." #News

Subscribe! http://full.sc/1o4TTJn TWITTER: http://full.sc/1h0GJ6n The idea that the Obama administration has the budget deficit under control is a complete and total lie. According to the U.S. Treasury, the federal government has officially run a deficit of 589 billion dollars for the first 11 months of fiscal year 2014. But this number is just for public consumption and it relies on accounting tricks which massively understate how much debt is actually being accumulated. If you want to know what the real budget deficit is, all you have to do is go to a U.S. Treasury website which calculates the U.S. national debt to the penny. From Gangsta Rapper To Islamist Militant

A German hip-hop artist joins the Islamic State, sparking fears of homegrown terror in his country. As war in Syria and Iraq attracts a growing number of Muslim extremists from Europe, intelligence officials in Germany believe a former gangsta rapper has joined the inner circle of Islamists fighting there. Denis Cuspert was once a modestly successful member of Germany's hip-hop scene going by the stage name Deso Dogg. Now he calls himself Abu Talha the German and is a top propagandist for the so-called Islamic State caliphate, which is blamed for several wartime atrocities. His ascent into the upper IS ranks is raising concerns that such "homegrown" Islamists could embolden Muslim extremists in Germany or that they might one day return themselves to target the country for terrorism. http://yhoo.it/1twKmLO http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ #News

Looters in the Mexican resort area of Los Cabos on Wednesday stripped supermarkets of their food and other products as residents struggled in the aftermath of Hurricane Odile. Some people fought over goods and many were seen leaving with trolley-loads of food and other items from supermarkets. Officials estimated it would take two days to evacuate the 30,000 tourists who were being put up in temporary refuges or hotel areas converted to shelters. GOP House Candidate Has No Qualms About War with Mexico to Stop Illegal Immigration

The Republican candidate for U.S. House in North Carolina’s 6th district recently suggested that the United States military could use force in Mexico to prevent the flow of foreigners crossing the border with drug cartels. During a GOP runoff forum in June, hosted by a tea party group in Rockingham County, Mark Walker was asked how he would secure the United States’ southern border. “My first answer is we’re going to utilize the National Guard as much as we can,” he said in a video originally posted by liberal blog Daily Kos. He continued: “But I will tell you, if you have foreigners who were sneaking in with drug cartels to me that is a national threat and if we’ve got to go laser or blitz somebody with a couple of fighter jets for a little while to make our point, I don’t have a problem with that either.” An off-camera voice then asked him if he’d have “any qualms about starting up a little war with Mexico.” His response: “Well, we did it before. If we need to do it again, I don’t h...
