Iran Removed from 'Terror Threats' List

Make Sure to Subscribe to the New J.KNIGHT Channel: http://bit.ly/1EkkVQI The U.S. intelligence community’s Worldwide Threat Assessment removed Iran and its proxy Hezbollah from the list of terror threats to the United States. The annual assessment of the intelligence community, which is released by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, led by General James Clapper, backed away from years of precedent when the decision was made to remove Iran and Hezbollah from the terrorism threats list, The Times of Israel reports. Outside of the politically correct verbiage and categorization issues (such as replacing the term “jihadist” with “violent extremist”), the report reveals that the intelligence community believes Tehran presents a persistent, significant threat to the United States. The report reveals that Iran presents a significant threat to the United States: “The Islamic Republic of Iran is an ongoing threat to US national interests because of its support to the Assad r...

WTF! White House Office to Delete Its FOIA Regulations

The White House is removing a federal regulation that subjects its Office of Administration to the Freedom of Information Act, making official a policy under Presidents Bush and Obama to reject requests for records to that office. The White House said the cleanup of FOIA regulations is consistent with court rulings that hold that the office is not subject to the transparency law. The office handles, among other things, White House record-keeping duties like the archiving of e-mails. But the timing of the move raised eyebrows among transparency advocates, coming on National Freedom of Information Day and during a national debate over the preservation of Obama administration records. It's also Sunshine Week, an effort by news organizations and watchdog groups to highlight issues of government transparency. http://usat.ly/1FyPzbQ

Cyanide Detected On Envelope Sent to The White House

The secret service has confirmed an envelope sent to The White House has tested positive for cyanide. “On Monday 3/16/15, an envelope was received at the White House Mail Screening Facility. Initial Biological testing was negative; however, on 03/17/15, the chemical testing returned a presumptive positive for cyanide,” said Secret Service spokesman Brian Leary in a statement. “The sample was transported to another facility to confirm the results.” The envelope, containing a milky substance, was in a container wrapped in a plastic bag, according to an internal law enforcement document obtained by The Intercept, which first reported the positive test. According to reports, the envelope had a return address for a man who has a record with the Secret Service dating to 1995. According to CNN, that history includes an incident in which the man sent a package covered in urine and feces. http://bit.ly/1wXUCBa

Megyn Kelly Battles Juan Williams over Hillary: She 'Willfully Concealed Records'

(Mediaite) Megyn Kelly took her outrage at the State Department and Hillary Clinton to Fox’s The Five today to go off on the absolute lack of transparency from anyone in the government on this issue, saying, “No one cares about the American public’s right to know.” Kelly was one of the first people to publicly question whether Clinton signed a separation statement saying the signee has already handed over all relevant documents to the government. Today State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said they have no record of Clinton signing such a statement, and that really set Kelly off. She said Psaki wanted to “wiggle out of responsibility” and expressed her deep skepticism that State is being entirely straight with everyone. Kelly called it a “complete dereliction of duty to the American people” for the government to lack such transparency on documents that belong to the American people. Kelly ended up clashing with Juan Williams a bit when he said Clinton didn’t break any laws. She argu...

As Snowfall Records are Set, Ferry Gets Stuck in Sea Ice Off Nova Scotia

While the all-time snowfall record in Boston may have received most of the media attention in the U.S., Canada has had its fair share of unusually severe winter weather this season as well in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland have been slammed by recurring severe winter storms, producing a broad area of sea ice cover and mountainous snowbanks along the streets of cities such as Charlottetown and Saint John. A Marine Atlantic passenger ferry with 190 people aboard was stuck in pack ice off Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, on Tuesday, with Canadian Coast Guard ships trying to free the vessel. http://on.mash.to/18Z32g2 http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ

California Drought: State Approves Sweeping Restrictions On Water Use

http://bit.ly/1zfNXza Californians are looking for ways to conserve water as they enter a fourth year of severe drought. The California State Water Resources Control Board voted Tuesday to expand emergency regulations to protect its remaining water supplies. The Golden State is approaching the end of its rainy season, December through April, with record-low rainfall and its worst drought in recorded history. “If conditions continue as they are likely to over the next two weeks, we’ll have less than half of the previous lowest reading,” Doug Carlson, a spokesman for the California Department of Water Resources, told Yahoo News. “Emergency regulations only have a shelf life of 270 days. The regulations passed in July of 2014 would have expired on April 25 of this year. [But] it is anticipated that the board will act,” George Kostyrko, a spokesman for the board, said in an interview with Yahoo News. As before, urban water customers will not be able to overwater, use their sprinklers in t...

Would you like to know more? Iran deal could start nuclear fuel race - Saudi Arabia (BBC, March 16, 2015) http://bbc.in/19whxsZ "A senior member of the Saudi royal family has warned that a deal on Iran's nuclear programme could prompt other regional states to develop atomic fuel. Prince Turki al-Faisal told the BBC that Saudi Arabia would then seek the same right, as would other nations. Six world powers are negotiating an agreement aimed at limiting Iran's nuclear activity but not ending it. Kremlin Rules Out Handing Back Crimea to Ukraine

Russia said on Tuesday it would not hand back Crimea to Ukraine, despite warnings by the United States and European Union that they will not drop sanctions over the Black Sea peninsula's annexation a year ago. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters during a conference call, "There is no occupation of Crimea. Crimea is a region of the Russian Federation and of course the subject of our regions is not up for discussion." Russia's parliament approved the annexation of Crimea on March 21 last year after residents of the peninsula supported the move in a referendum. Moscow has said repeatedly it will not return it to Ukraine. Russian forces had already seized control of Crimea after the overthrow of a Ukrainian president backed by Moscow, a move described by Russian officials as a coup which threatened the safety of Crimea's mainly Russian-speaking population. U.S. State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said on Monday Washington would keep economic sanctions i...

Dozens of Families Flee Libya's Sirte as Clashes with IS Escalate

Dozens of families are fleeing Libya's coastal city of Sirte after two days of clashes between Islamic State militants and fighters loyal to a government based in Tripoli. Full Story: Families fled Libya's coastal city of Sirte in their dozens on Monday (March 16) after two days of clashes between Islamic State militants and fighters loyal to a government based in Tripoli, with the violence set to escalate, according to witnesses. Families were seen packing into cars and heading westwards along the coast for Misrata, the stronghold of Libya Dawn, the armed group that backs the government in the capital, Tripoli. Some 20 cars evacuated staff from a hospital. One resident leaving the city said Islamic State had told them more fighting was likely in the next few days. Fuel was running short in Sirte while some shops had closed, he said. The region east of Sirte, towards Benghazi, has been a battlefield since December when Libya Dawn tried to seize Libya's biggest oil ports, E...

Facebook Clarifies Content Policies

Facebook is opening up about what it bans and why. The social network is also facing a slight increase in government requests for account data. Full Story: Facebook is clarifying its rules. Telling its users exactly what they can and cannot post. On the no list: Self-injury, dangerous organizations, bullying and harassment, criminal activity, sexual violence and exploitation. It's about time says Manhattan Venture Partners Max Wolff: [Max Wolff, Managing Partner at Manhattan Venture Partners]: "Historically Facebook removed things and it was kind of your fault if they removed it probably, and it was a long more or less fruitless effort to change this. You'd have to have a big movement, a lot of energy and a lot of time. What we've seen is them give a little more clarity. So for instance breast feeding is great and fine and allowed at all times and art is ok but pornography is not ok." The clarification comes as Facebook sees an increase in government requests for...

Human trafficking: LAPD cop charged for smuggling Mexican into the US inside the trunk of his car

A LAPD officer and a second person were charged by federal prosecutors Monday with trying to smuggle a Mexican citizen into the United States, according to the Los Angeles Times. Officer Carlos Curiel Quezada Jr., 34, and Angelica Godinez, 31, were stopped by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers Saturday evening when they drove a white 2014 Nissan Juke through the Otay Mesa border crossing, the Times reported. Quezada and Godinez showed officials their passports said they were going to Mission Hills, according to the federal charging document. However, when the car scanned at a secondary inspection point, officials noticed something unusual in the vehicle's trunk. They opened it to find 26-year-old Antanasio Perez-Avalos hiding in the spare tire compartment, according to federal prosecutors. Perez-Avalos "is a Mexican citizen with no legal ability to enter the United States," U.S. Customs officials said. Quezada and Godinez have been charged with bringing a person...
