Heads Up! Russia Is Conducting Observation Flights Over US, Right Now!

http://bit.ly/1zfNXza In an attempt to promote transparency in military activities between the two countries, Russia will conduct an observation flight over the United States as part of the Treaty on Open Skies between Dec. 8 and Dec. 13, Sergei Ryzhkov, head of Russia’s National Nuclear Risk Reduction Center, said Monday. The flight will be launched from Travis Air Force Base in California and cover a maximum range of 2,640 miles. A group of U.S. specialists will also board the Russian aircraft to monitor the flight and to ensure that norms of the treaty are not violated. According to the U.S. Department of State, the Treaty on Open Skies allows 34 participating countries to carry out observation flights over each other's territories to gather information through aerial imaging on military forces and activities that are of concern to them. http://on-msn.com/1w9FaxX

Sony Pictures Hack Exposes Hollywood Celebrities 'Secret Aliases'

http://bit.ly/1zfNXza The gargantuan hack of Sony Pictures exposed some of the studio’s internal operations to public view, damaging morale at the company and compromising the studio’s inner business workings. But one new leak may put Hollywood celebrities on high alert: a cache of documents that reveal the secret aliases used by actors and actresses to check into hotels and book car services. In the latest batch of files leaked by a hacking group known as “Guardians of Peace,” there is a folder containing “publicity bibles” for many recently released Sony Pictures films. These documents, which are compiled and distributed among film staff, serve as contact directories for the duration of filming. They include phone numbers and e-mail addresses for directors, producers, publicists, cast members, and crew. And, in some cases, they include the false names stars assume in order to protect their privacy. http://fus.in/1s5Y0rt

#RoyalShutItDown: Thousands to Protest In Berkeley After 2nd Night of Protests Turn Violent!

http://bit.ly/1zfNXza MAKE SURE TO FOLLOW THE LIVE STREAMS AT LINK ABOVE! The Berkeley Police Department deliberately held back from using tear gas during the protests Sunday night under orders from City Manager Christine Daniel, according to city officials. Mayor Tom Bates said Monday that he and other Berkeley City Council members had been disturbed by the aggressive tone of the demonstrations Saturday night, when Berkeley police shot rubber bullets, other projectiles, and tear gas at hundreds of demonstrators who refused to leave Telegraph Avenue. He conveyed this concern to Daniel, who apparently was also concerned. She then told Berkeley police to refrain from using tear gas unless absolutely necessary. http://bit.ly/1w9F8pM http://apne.ws/1s5XZUt

Oversupply weak demand pushes oil prices down to five year low

Brent crude oil fell more than $2 a barrel on Monday (December 8) to a new five-year low. It comes following predictions that an oversupply would keep building until next year, after the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) decided not to cut output. At a meeting in November, top oil exporter Saudi Arabia resisted calls from poorer members of OPEC to cut production, driving a further slide in prices, which have lost more than 40 percent since June. Saudi Arabia's oil minister told fellow OPEC members they must combat the U.S. shale oil boom, arguing against cutting crude output in order to depress prices and undermine the profitability of North American producers. Although the news may be welcomed by consumers worldwide, Head of FX Strategy at CIBC, Jeremy Stretch says the flip side of a drop in prices must not be ignored. "Well it's of course a double-edged sword. For, for those producers it's clearly a negative and for consumers and importers it...

State Lawmakers Launch Gun Control Coalition

Members of the group said on Monday, State lawmakers have launched a nationwide non-partisan coalition to combat gun violence, in part because the Congress has failed to reform gun laws. Some 200 lawmakers from 50 states have joined the alliance, American State Legislators for Gun Violence Prevention, said the group's founder, Democratic New York State Assembly member Brian Kavanagh. Kavanagh told a news conference the group would focus on state-level gun control reforms, including the prevention of interstate gun trafficking and tightening background checks on buyers. President Barack Obama had vowed to curb gun violence after a 20-year-old shooter killed 26 people, mostly children, at a Connecticut school in 2012. http://bit.ly/1vy0wkV http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ

Alert! New York Confiscating Guns from Owners Deemed 'Mentally Unstable'

http://bit.ly/1zfNXza As part of provisions listed in the state’s draconian SAFE Act, New York’s Division of Criminal Justice Services has found 278 gun owners whom physicians and other “mental health professionals” have identified as mentally unstable, according to a FOIA request submitted by the Syracuse Post-Standard. Gun owners can be identified by physicians, psychologists, registered nurses or licensed clinical social workers as unfit without their knowledge, as the law does not require health professionals to inform a patient or ask their permission before reporting them to the state. Some of those identified in the database have reportedly already been visited by police and had their guns confiscated. http://bit.ly/1wt7X3T

OPERATION BLACKJACK ALERT DECEMBER 2014

A new report claims terrorists are plotting to blow up five jets bound for European cities before Christmas, in what one analyst said is a sign Al Qaeda is competing with the Islamic State for influence. Britain's Sunday Express newspaper reported that, according to unnamed security experts, Al Qaeda terrorists are plotting a Christmas "spectacular." The threat reportedly is taken seriously enough that it led officials to consider banning hand luggage. Marchers at US Capitol Protest Police Killings

Protesters carrying signs bearing names of black Americans killed by police have marched outside the U.S. Capitol to demand a human rights investigation. About two dozen protesters were met by a line of police who stopped them from advancing toward the building Monday morning. The protesters stood side by side to mourn black Americans killed by police. They said they were seeking an international investigation of U.S. police violence. A number of protests have been staged around the country following recent grand jury decisions not to indict white police officers in New York and Ferguson, Missouri, over the deaths of unarmed blacks. Shouts of "Hands up, don't shoot" began as protesters marched away from the Capitol but quickly changed to chants of "Fists up, fight back." http://yhoo.it/1uahDty http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ

Federal Law Enforcement Banned From Religious Profiling

The Justice Department announced Monday that profiling on the basis of religion, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, and gender identity by federal law enforcement agencies will be banned. The new policy means that federal law enforcement officers cannot use these characteristics as the basis for making routine or spontaneous law enforcement decisions like traffic stops. U.S. Attorney Eric Holder said, "Profiling by law enforcement is not only wrong, it is profoundly misguided and ineffective, because it wastes precious resources and undermines the public trust. Particularly in light of certain recent incidents at the local level — and the widespread concerns about trust in the criminal justice process which so many have raised throughout the nation — it's imperative that we take every possible action to institute strong and sound policing practices." http://nbcnews.to/15ZXcKI http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ

'Righteous Deed': North Korea Praises Sony Hack

North Korea released a statement Sunday that clearly relished a cyberattack on Sony Pictures, which is producing a film that depicts an assassination plot against Pyongyang's leader. The statement carried in state media said ,'We do not know where in America the Sony Pictures is situated and for what wrongdoings it became the target of the attack.' North Korea has built a cult of personality around the Kim family, which has ruled for three generations, and sees any outside criticism or mockery of its leader as an attack on its sovereignty. http://nbcnews.to/1ysVe1b http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ

BP to Wield Jobs Ax as Oil Price Slump Takes Toll

BP plans to ax middle managers and could freeze projects as it grapples with the plummeting oil price. The Sunday Times first quoted finance director Brian Gilvary saying, "What you'll see with this simplification plan is that headcounts are starting to come down across all of our activities in upstream, downstream and in the corporate centers -- essentially the layers above operations." On Wednesday, BP will update on its exploration and production plans until 2010. Gilvary went on to say, "We have got flexibility to trim into next year if that's what we need in a new world of oil at $70 or $60 (a barrel)." http://yhoo.it/1qi3Lkx http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ

Teens create automated aeroponics garden kit with NASA tech

15-year-old Erik Meike and Briana Das, along with their 12-year-old sisters Elise and Leona, wanted to create a “No-Touch Garden”. Calling themselves “Tribe Awesome” they started tinkering with hydroponics systems. Then they discovered aeroponics, garden tech tested by NASA on the space shuttle, and after “hours and hours” of research they created an aeroponics-in-a-bucket kit that any teen could learn to make. Aeroponics, like hydroponics, doesn’t uses soil, but unlike hydroponics which floods the system with water every few minutes, aeroponics uses a fogger to mist the roots. The Tribe Awesome teens use an ultrasonic fogger (purchased for about $25 online) to deliver what they consider the exact micron-sized droplets for their plants’ roots. Combine the fogger with a $5 bucket, a bit of foam, water and some seedlings and Tribe Awesome has what they consider future garden tech. tribeawesome.com

HA! Akai Gurley's Family Bans Al Sharpton: "Who Made You Our Family Spokesman?"

http://bit.ly/1zfNXza The family of police-shooting victim Akai Gurley had a message on Friday for the Rev. Al Sharpton: Keep your “circus” away from his funeral! The blowhard opportunist muscled his way into the arrangements — and even put out press releases promising to deliver the eulogy — without ever consulting the family or offering to foot the bill. But Gurley’s relatives told Sharpton to stay away rather than turn the somber ceremonies into a spectacle. “It’s been a nightmare,” Gurley’s aunt, Hertencia Petersen, told The Post. “He just wants to take credit for this when he’s never even contacted my sister [Gurley’s mother]. “Who made you the spokesperson of our family? We just want to bury our nephew with dignity and respect.” Petersen was stunned that Sharpton and his National Action Network billed him as the eulogist for a Friday funeral, when they were planning on a Saturday service and wanted a speaker who actually knew Gurley. “How can you do a eulogy for someone you don’...
