Boston was hammered on Monday by its third winter storm in two weeks, and records fell with the snow. Counting the 20 inches of snow that had fallen at Logan airport since late Saturday, there was 37 inches on the ground, beating a 1996 record for the greatest snow depth in Boston. Snow was falling at midafternoon across almost all of New York state and across all six states of New England. Police have charged a Pittsburgh-area boy with murder after he posted a selfie on Snapchat with the victim's body. According to various reports , police have charged 16-year-old Maxwell Marion Morton with the fatal shooting of Ryan Mangan, also 16, in the face. Morton then allegedly posed for a self-portrait with the body, which he sent to a friend via Snapchat. Over 1,000 workers from BP Plc’s Whiting, Indiana refinery and the company’s plant in Toledo, Ohio (a joint-venture with Husky Energy) are due to walk out shortly after midnight on Sunday. The two plants are set to join nine other refineries already on strike across the US, together accounting for about 13 percent of the country’s refining capacity. The union said in a statement that in addition to health and safety issues, the USW strike, which has been going on since last Sunday, is a consequence of oil companies' bad faith. On Tuesday, the government started building facilities in Futaba and Okuma towns to store the radioactive waste stemming from the nuclear accident in 2011. The prefecture and the 2 towns have set 5 conditions for allowing the waste to be transported. These include creating a law that stipulates the waste will be finally disposed of outside the prefecture. They also want new financial support to help revive the local economy.
