Polar Vortex In July: Record Cold Weather On The Way To U.S.

The middle of July is typically one of the hottest weeks of the year in the Midwest and Central United States. Well, not this year. Instead, the region that was locked in the deep freeze for the entire winter and much of the spring — Lake Superior's ice cover lasted until June, setting a new record — is about to shiver again. OK, maybe not shiver. But it's going to be 20 to 30 degrees cooler than average for this time of year. http://on.mash.to/1mEfDZS http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ

House GOP Kills Last Hope For Immigration Bill

The last remaining hope for an immigration bill to get through Congress died Thursday morning when House leadership informed Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart, R-Fla., that his bill would not be considered this year. Diaz-Balart has been the main Republican responsible for crafting the House version of an immigration overhaul. At times, he was working with a bipartisan group of legislators to find an immigration overhaul that would be tolerable in the Republican-led House. He was repeatedly encouraged by House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, and other GOP leaders to continue working on the bill. But after meeting with House leadership on Thursday morning, he says he was told the end had come. http://usat.ly/1mPxrTD http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ

The EPA is planning to gut the Renewable Fuel Standard, but America wants cheaper fuel that is made right here at home. Tell the EPA: Don't Gut The Renewable Fuel Standard.
