Detroit Tells Judge: We Can't Give Away Free Water

Detroit's water department defended its shutoff policy Monday and warned that free service to people with unpaid bills could be "very devastating" to the bottom line. A coalition representing low-income residents is asking Rhodes to suspend water shutoffs and restore service to people who have lost it. Attorney Sonal Mithani said the water department would be violating Michigan law and breaking agreements with bond holders if forced to supply water and ignore overdue bills. The water department stepped up shutoffs in March, and about 15,000 customers had service cut from April to June. http://yhoo.it/ZEkN07 http://bit.ly/1fJ5yqZ #News

(Ebola has a maximum incubation period of 21 days before symptoms appear.) The CDC is even instructing students to monitor their temperature twice daily for a 21-day ...

Why Is the USDA Buying Submachine Guns?

"Submachine guns, .40 Cal. S&W, ambidextrous safety, semi-automatic or 2 shot bur[s]t trigger group, Tritium night sights for front and rear, rails for attachment of flashlight (front under fore grip) and scope (top rear), stock-collapsib[l]e or folding, magazine - 30 rd. capacity.” In May, the USDA's Office of Inspector General filed a requestfor these weapons. Those seem like legitimate enforcement activities, but still: submachine guns? Not everyone believes the ...
